PREGGO Prenatal Vitamins

I used prescription vitamins with DS. This time my counts look great and Dr. says it's okay to use over-the-counter vitamins, but to make sure to get Omega-3's. Looking at prices today at CVS makes me wonder if $30 a month on prescription is just as cheap?

Where did you get your vitamins? What brand did you use? Are there q's out there for prenatals? Are there any samples of OTC?

This is my first pregnancy but I am on prescription vitamins now. The dr had told me i could take 2 chewable flintstones a day however i had a bad reaction with them, they turned my fingernails orange which meant i was getting too much vitamin A from them and you can get sick if you get too much. So she wrote out a prescription for Vinate care chewables, which is just the prenatal. Only costs $5 a month for me. The bottle of flintstones were like 30 for $6, however since you would have to take 2 per day that cuts it down to a 15 day supply so in orther words $12 for a whole month. I was ecstatic to learn i could spend even less on a prescription. They dont taste good at all but i dont expect them to and i always have to take them while eating.

I took prescrip. with the first 3 kids and then OTC with the last baby and he's the healthiest of them all! I used the Walmart brand prenatal and took extra Fish Oil throughout my pregnancy and doubled the dosage beginning at 20 weeks since brain development changes about that time.

I bought prescrip. grade purified fish oil so that the Omega's were the safest and highest quality...which to me was the more important thing than the vitamin itself. If you can't get purified fish oil (or if you are vegan/vegetarian), you can take flax seed oil for Omega 3 & 9

When I was pregnant I took otc prenatal vitamins from excerds now rite aid. They were a good price. I was looking, just quick glancing, and saw vitamins plus omega 3 on rite aids website. It's called PregPlus Omega-3 90 ct for 18.99. There is usually $5 off $25 printable for rite aid too.

Here is the link to to check it out:

I used cheap prenatal vitamins from Kmart. I think the brand was Vitasmart...

But if you have a Meijer near you, they offer free prescription prenatal vitamins (select ones, of course). If you do have one nearby, I would definitely check with them and your doctor and see if you can work out some free vitamins!

I used over the counter prenatals, but they weren't cheap. :( I was able to get them at a discount from my midwife, so that saved us a good bit after I started seeing her.

I highly recommend them though! They're Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter. You can get them at Whole Foods, drugstore.com, and a few other places. Whole Foods often runs sales on the entire New Chapter line.

I also took a cod liver oil supplement to make sure I had my omegas and DHA.

Costco sells Nature Made Prenatal Vitamins 300 ct(without DHA) for less than $15 and thats what I got when I found that I was pregnant. Then I read about the DHA thing and switched to a Rx prenatal vitamin.

I found a new item last week at Costco - Nature Made Prenatal Vitamins + DHA 90 ct for $18.xx. There is a $5 coupon out in the new costco coupon book (valid from 7/13 - 8/2) for it and the limit is 15. The final price comes to $13.xx after the $5 coupon - a great price for vitamins with DHA. If I had known about this item before, I would not have switched to Rx Prenatals at all.

HTH

Ask your OBGYN for Free Samples of Prenatal Vitamins.
I got a ton when I was pregnant (I just asked everytime I went in for a visit) and only had to buy enough for 3 months. HTH

I don't know the details but recently saw an ad stating that Meijer's does free prenatal vitamins as well as some free antibiotics. I assume you need an rx.

I just got my free prenatals from Meijer 30 day supply. Its only certain ones and they were not in my Dr's system(i got a flyer from Meijer) so they had to call it in. Normally they use a special computer to e-mail it. It saved me my 10 dollar co pay. Hey 10 bucks is 10 bucks. Also they do also give free antibotics.
