Default Re: Need advice about Lice

Many years ago my DS got lice at daycare and therefore I got it(first time in my life). I have very long hair and we had to go to the doctor and get something stronger than the over the counter kits. The doctor had us bag all the stuffed animals, treat the bedding, carpets and all the furniture and throw out all the hair brushes. I also threw out all hair ties, bands, ect.. After two weeks I threw them all out again just to be safe.
As far as the other child's parents, although not easy I would recommend being direct. Let them know that both girls have it and tell them what was being done to treat it. I know it is a few months off, but the school nurse here does random checks exspecially after a phone call from a parent.

We used to have a problem with lice on a regular basis. My son's school often had outbreaks. Then, they got a new nurse in (an "old school German lady") and while she gave out the lice kit, she strongly suggested I Google alternative methods using household remedies from the bathroom. I found that alot of people swear by Listerine (the original kind) so I tried it and we've not had a problem since. I also use it as preventitive.

Thank you all for your advice. I will pass it along to them and hopefully they can get this taken care of. The poor girl who is 6 just burst into tears and said "no mommy not again". They got her hair cut shorter to shoulder length after the last time and her mom said if she was a boy she would have just buzzed it off.
