Re: Soy ALLERGY My now 4 yr old was tested at 10 months and got positive results for nearly everything they tested! We had to avoid dairy, soy, peanut, peas, wheat, goat milk and eggs!! I was breastfeeding, so I had to avoid all of those as well!
The adjustment was not easy at all. His blood tests showed the same results as his skin test and we went thru hell for quite a while afterwards because with the dairy and soy and wheat, there was hardly anything left!
The links already given by others are excellent resources. With my son, he either outgrew or was misdiagnosed on most of his list of allergies. He is still definitely allergic to dairy and we are avoiding peanuts to be on the safe side, but we can live with it a lot easier than when we had the whole list to avoid.
One thing I have done, which has made life a lot easier is to make a list of ingredient words to be avoided. Dairy had a ton of different names it can hide under. I carry my list with me everywhere. After dealing with the allergy for this long, I've gotten pretty good at knowing which words to avoid, but it helps to have that list when I come across a word I'm not sure of. I'm always checking online to make sure my list is still accurate too.
Good luck! I did learn that early testing (considered anything before 2 yrs old) isn't always accurate. You can get false negatives and you can get false positives (like we did). I'm still holding out hope that my ds outgrows the rest of his allergies. "Most" kids who have the allergies young "usually" outgrow them.
