PLEASE HELP: Birthday Decoration Ideas

I posted in another thread about my daughter's first birthday. It's June 30th. We're having an underwater, fishy, summery themed party for her. There will only be 2-5 kids there. But I still want it to be very cute and creative. I have my menu set...and I am doing an Octupus cake-the pan just came in. Now I need decoartions!! Any ideas? Suggestions? I'd love to hear your creative thoughts! Reps to all! Thanks!!

EDIT: We have a large fenced in back yard. We have a big swingset and are going to purchase a canopy tent. We have a wrap-around porch as well. I plan for most of the party to be outside...in the heat... since we're doing water stuff and a crawfish boil. THANKS!

A fishing station would be fun. A fishing pole with a magnet/hook on the end of the string; have the kids throw it over a curtain (or some other divider) and someone puts something on the magnet/hook.

Could do rubber ducks in a plastic pool with prizes by the number on the bottom of the duck..

That is all I can think of right now.

My son had a rubbler duck party (inside) and I used clear balloons to look like bubbles. The age of kids were 1-6 and everyone loved them. We blew up (air not helium) about 50 of them in the cake room and the kids just waded through them. Lots of blue decorations for water. HTH

1 year old cant really 'play' any games. I think the play set and maybe some bubbles will keep them busy and happy.

Like Previous Poster suggested you could have a little baby pool with a ton of the little ducks floating around they could play with.

For the Party Favors you could get the $1.00 Sand buckets at Michael's Craft Store and put various little items inside. Like: Little bottle of bubbles, snacks, band aids, toothbrush. Stuff that your child could use. I hate getting goodie bags full of stuff that we are never going to use, KWIM?


We just had my DS 2nd B-Day Party and we just had a little baby pool, sand box and bubbles and all the children had a great time.

I don't have any suggestions (Sorry!) but just had to chime in that your DD shares a birthday with my DS! :) We're just doing a cookout with friends and family and kind of a generic "Baby's 1st Birthday" theme.

Happy early birthday to your little one! I'm SO excited (and a little sad :() to celebrate my baby's first birthday!

You can take crepe paper or streamers in blues and greens and hang it from the door ways for water. Take poster board and draw/color fish and cut them out to put up everywhere along the fence. Do different blue colored balloons also around the outside, anchor them with sand buckets. Your food table could have a blue table cloth with a old fishing type net or blow up pool type fishes. They sell them at walmart or craft stores. Beach balls in the yard woud also be fun for the kiddos. They could play with them but be decoration also.
