I got it for $225, new, including shipping. That's pretty much the reason.

There IS no such thing as a perfect double. It's a major topic of discussion on my baby boards, and every one has its down side.

I've been very happy with the P&T. It turns on a dime, fits through all the doors I have tried, and I can steer it fully loaded with a 31 lb toddler, a 16 lb infant, and all of my crap, with one hand.

I have a Graco DuoGlider LXI (I think that is right - we splurged thanks to some giftcards and bought the "cadillac" of the Graco double line). We got ours a little over a year ago when DD#2 arrived. My girls are 2.5 years apart. I love my stroller because it is easy to turn, it has a large basket underneath, and the girls like the stadium seating. It is heavy, I think most double strollers are. The stroller weighs ~40 pounds and when you add 2 kids (~35 pounds & ~20 pounds) you really get a work out anywhere you go and push it. If you do not have a large trunk or a SUV it will be a pain to get in and out of the car. We hated it the week we were in FL with a rental car. But again, I think that is the complaint of most double strollers. HTH

sorry! hadn't checked back to this thread!

My kids are now 18 months & 5 years (just turned). Got it when they were 6 months & 4 (just turned). I cannot tell you how long this might last us....my 5 year old still likes to be pushed around and fits in just fine. I have a friend who has a Phil & Ted's as well, and used it with her 2 kids from the time her second was born (with her infant lying the flat position).

My youngest doesn't know any different, so it does not bother him in the slightest to sit in the back. He loves it. In fact, he'll fuss when he sees me getting it out, until I get him in his little back seat. He is now getting old enough to enjoy poking his big brother in the back now & then. LOL!

The new Phil & Ted's have wheel guards, so no trouble with fingers on that issue. Saying that, my kids are easy riders, they love being walked/strolled/jogged. They do not goof around or try & put their fingers in stuff, etc. So, perhaps this issue might depend on the child. I suppose any kid can get their fingers caught anywhere or in any stroller's wheels if they are big enough & can reach out and do it. Also, I strap my kids in (ALWAYS), and I'm pretty sure the little one cannot even reach to the wheels in any way while strapped in.

Again, I love it. Of everything I looked at, it was the best choice for me. It's sturdy & can go over different terrain which is important for me. I will admit that it is a little awkward to jog with when in double mode, but I don't really do that anyway. I love the fact it's narrow, I never have problems maneuvering through stores. I do wish there was some way to adjust the seats (reclining positions) a bit more --- but again, it's not a perfect jogger, just the most perfect for my family.

Good Luck, again.

Definitely recommend the Graco Duo tandem stroller..... my best friend for how many years was that? And it was still in good enough shape to sell for $50.

Graco Quattro is WAY BETTER than the duo glider. It folds up much smaller than the duo glider and isn't as long so it's easier to turn a corner...not to mention folds up better, holds the kids better, way better handles ect...

I would love a phil and teds...but don't have $700 bucks to splurge.

We looked at all the other ones available at BRU.

THe side by sides are nice except getting anywhere like a dr. office door or kmart HUGE pita.

The other double strollers weighed way more and took up way more room in the trunk.

18 months is too young for a sit and stand...which is a bummer.

I honestly wouldn't try solving the problem by just using a carrier either.....it's fine at times, but it can be awfully inconvient at times too to always have to carry the baby.

Craigs list is an awesome way to get one cheaper...but yes buy the carseat new. The car seat carrier FYI is really nice as well.

In an effort to find the "perfect" stroller, I've had a graco duoglider (didn't care for it), a jeep side by side (no extra features), and now a peg perego aria. Bought all of them used, thought I would like the aria because of the snack tray, but good god is it hard to turn. Now I am decided between a graco quattro- saw one at the mall and saw that it has a bar with areas for snacks, or a maclaren. A lady at the mall playground actually let me put my twins in her stroller (her kids were playing )and push it around. I really, really liked it. My experience has been with side by sides, so I'm comfortable with squeezing through doorways.

HELP What is a good double stroller?

Hi everyone. Having a tough time finding a double stroller, baby due in 3 weeks and have a 2 1/2 year old that is very active. Any recommendations on what stroller would be a good pick? Thanks in advance.

I have a Combi-Sport. Bought two years ago for $200. It's side-by-side. I think any side-by-side is better then front and back b/c it handles better. It fits thru doors fine so no need to worry about that. They are also lighter then other doubles.

Only con is little basket room on bottom (Fix, I use hooks and have a mesh net bag hanging from back, no cup holders (i tried one of those hookie ones but it didn't work well).
