Default Has anyone ever tried Lily Padz reusable silicone nursing pads?

I'm just curious to know if anyone has tried Lily Padz. I'm very intrigued by their claim that you can wear them overnight without a bra. I've been breastfeeding for 3 1/2 months now and I would love to be able to sleep without having to wear a bra!

in advance!

I'd be interested to hear a review or two myself. I thought they looked like they wouldn't breath, which can't be good for nursing. You gotta air out some or you'll get sore. And wouldn't it be a breeding ground for fungus/yeast infections/bacteria? Anybody know?

A friend of mine tried them. They work by pressing on the nipple and preventing the flow of milk, not by absorbing what leaks.

She said they were OK. Not fabulous, but OK. They did leak occasionally. The stickiness wears off eventually and you do have to replace them.

I had them but only used them once inside a bra. They were comfortable but not great. I liked my soft cotton washable pads better. I stopped leaking after a couple of months, maybe you will too.

I haven't used them but have heard lots of women discuss them...Some women swear by them but a lot of women have also complained about getting yeast infections from them because of the moisuture trapped... I would say they seem to be a nice product for short term usage here and there for a few hours... I personally wouldn't wear them all night.

I tried them...

I was a leaker, and these allow just a little bit of milk to leak, but they trap it very well, which led to, as the pp said, a massive yeast infection. I did not even know you could get a yeast infection in your boobies. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced. Every time he nursed, it felt he was sucking razor blades through and not milk... sorry guys.. but it was bad. My Peds doctor who's also a lactation specialist said these are the worst thing in the world to wear. I now wear washable ones with cotton liners sewn in, I don't even use ones with PVC in them. Yes, leaking is a pain, but like another poster said, I only leaked until about 4 months, then it was smooth sailing until a year when I stopped. In fact, after about 7 months, I did not even need to wear a nursing pad.

Long post short... I would NOT recommend these!

I havent tried them but I never wore a bra to bed, most times not even during the day - for at least the first 7 months or so. I quit leaking around 4 months for the most part and I think the last time I leaked at all was around 6 months in. anyways I would recommend getting a waterproof mattress cover to protect your mattress and then also you can fold a large/beach towel and put it under you in the bed at night to catch most of it. Thats what I did at night and during the day I used either the lansinoh pads or washable cotton ones usually with a tank that had a shelf bra sewn in. I tried going back to wearing bras formost of the day(had to go to work for a few weeks while DH was on vacation so I was working 10+ hour days) around 6 months and within a week I had mastitis. --NOT FUN!!! even now I only will wear a bra when I go out for no more than a few hours. as soon as I get home off it goes.(not working)

Thanks for all the feedback! Y'all just saved me twenty bucks because I've totally decided against them. I don't leak much as it is now. I just seem to let down at random intervals for no reason. Hopefully it will stop soon. If not, it's ok. The benefits of breastfeeding far outweigh the minor inconvenience of dealing with nursing pads and sleeping in a bra. :o)

I used them with DD and wish I would've known about them sooner!

I was a leaker...would soak pads like there was no tomorrow. I'd have to have a towel while nursing because I couldn't control the letdown on the side not "in use." I wasn't thrilled with the price tag of these things but I was willing to try anything.

These things worked for me and worked well. Of course I wore a bra 24/7 so maybe that was the difference? I liked the fact that they weren't as bulky as pads were too.

I got mastitis 3 times before using these and never afterwards so maybe it's different with each person.

They do lose their adhesiveness but if you wash them with soap and water it comes right back. If you don't get them good and clean then they won't be sticky.
