Default Can you please Help with Birthday Party Favor Ideas

My son's 7th birthday is coming up quickly and we're on a tighter budget than usual. Do you have any creative and cheap birthday favor ideas?

What about those Mars b1g1 coupons that are out right now? I know some stores have deals to get them free. You could also make your own treats, like cookie bars, and wrap them up and make them look cute and stick them in the bags. Or homemade playdoh- that would have made me excited! I used to love that stuff!

Is there a party theme?

If you have a digital camera and a printer, you could make frames out of cardboard and construction paper, get stickers, paint ect. and let them decorate, then take a pic of each one to put in the frame. Even if you didn't have photo paper it would be cute and give them something to do.

I second the Buddy bars. They were a hit at my sons party.

At that age the best favor my son received was a Nerf football from the dollar store.

You can get some plastic soldiers and skull rings and cheap hard candy and things at Michaels or the dollar store and either put them into a pinata (you can easily make one yourself if you want instead of buying one) or bury them (shallowly) for a treasure hunt. They get a bag to put what they find into and that's their goodie bag so you get the two-fer of the activity, plus the junk to take home. You really don't need a lot of stuff since most of the time this stuff just gets tossed in a drawer anyway and forgotten about.

My cousin recently took different candy bars- she got free or cheap from sales/coupons- and hot glued them together to make cars. A bar for the body. Glued round candy for wheels. She got super creative. All of the little boys played with theirs through-out the party...they "raced them" and such. Then each got to leave with his own car to take home and eat! It was a big hit.

We did this at one of the family birthdays. All the kids loved making, playing with and eating them. I am pretty sure I ate alot of choclate that day, so not bad for the parents either.

Not sure if these will work because my son is a lot younger (3) but I did these at a Thomas party:

*bought cheap rubber stamps on clearance at Target
*bought cheap pencil boxes at Target (clear plastic) and used foam letters to put the kids names on top
*made white chocolate trains using a candy mold (candy mold cost a few dollars but the white chocolate was cheap--I bought it when on sale)
*made activity books out of printed out sheets from the computer and included coloring pages, matching games, etc. You could do mazes, word searches and things like that. There is a website where you can make your own word searches. I made covers with their name on it and put a piece of cardstock on the bag and just stapled them together.
*Used small sandwich bags (cut top off) to include small candy bars (halloween sized) and tied with curly ribbon
*I put the stuff in small red gift bags which were about 50 cents at party city.

Overall I probably spent maybe $2 a person for 5 kids.

HTH!
