Default Booster Seat vs High Chair? Any thoughts?

Seems like I always have questions...

Booster Seat or High Chair? Any thoughts?

I will need to get my DD either a high chair or a booster seat with a tray that straps onto a seat instead of the high chair. Any thoughts on this? Do your LO's have a high chair or a booster seat? If so, which brand & model. I did a search for these items and didn't see anything except the car seat - boosters. Safety 1st 5 Recline and Grow 5 Stage Booster Seat - is the one that I think I will get b/c it is a lot cheaper than High Chair and it would be good to take to MILs especially when she get a little older. But I read some really different reviews on it. My friend has a Chicco high chair - the one that costs $99.99 - and she loves it. I will definitely pay for safety but we don't live in a big apt so space savers are nice - and portablity is nice as well.

Thanks for any help!

I have used both. If you are using a booster type with a new to eating child who is not used to sitting up really straight then make sure you get one that reclines. There are several different types out there. The only booster I used was the fisher price one but the one I had didn't recline. They do save a lot of space and the one I had folded down to a square which made it extra easy to transport (I absolutely loved it in our camper as well).

I took mine with me to family/friends houses, camping and the like. I had a highchair at home as well but I got rid of it after DS was able to sit up well and was tall enough so that he could sit at the table with us with the tray removed (remember when the are going to the table with no tray you have to take into account how tall the table top is for them to reach).

Sorry for the long post but IMHO they are worth having even if you also have a highchair. But for space they are the way to go. Look around their are many to choose from! If you can't find them let me know

I got a Graco highchair, but was wishing I would have just gotten a booster seat. The highchair takes up a LOT of space, and she really likes sitting up at the table with the rest of us, so she not real happy in her highchair, but every kid is different.

I have the Fisher Price Space Saver. It goes from reclining infant to regular seat with tray to booster. The pad is vinyl and the whole thing is easy to clean. It doesn't take up a ton of floor space since it's strapped to a regular chair.

And it's only $50.

Perfect, IMO.

My daughter mainly wants to sit at the table with us so we got a booster seat, but occasionally we'll use the high chair so I have kept it for now. I got a great deal awhile back on the highchair it's a FP Spacesaver high chair. At the time we didn't have a lot of room so I didn't want a stand alone. I think it converts to a booster chair but I didn't want to convert it. It is this one:
Amazon.com: Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair - Tan: Baby

My booster seat I was very particular about. I wanted a restaurant style one because the only ones I could find were made out of plastic and we preferred not to have the tray but to put her at the table with us. I found ours for $5 at a baby consignment store but I was told that a great one to get is this one:
Baby Bungalow

I also just found this and thought this is a neat idea that I never seen before:
KABOOST: Portable Chair Booster. Raises the Chair.

I might have to get one of these next....

Feel free to ask as much as you want. I am always full of questions as well.

I have a booster with the tray and love it. It is easy to take apart, and all the pieces fit in the dishwasher. 4 Kids have used it and it is still in great shape. It is a "The First Years" brand. High-chairs just take up way to much space.

I found one that straps to a regular kitchen chair and has a tray you can attach. Recently though, my son wants to sit at the table like big people so I took the tray off and let him use the table, like a booster seat and it works great!
