Default Bottle Chemical Safety Concerns (Chemicals BPA/BPH?)

So, I have been researching about different bottles so I know what's available for when I go back to work and will have DD eating from a bottle. My question is NOT about which bottle is best, but what do I need to look for in a bottle as far as safety? I've heard that some bottles have BPA or BPH (I don't know if that's the same thing or not), so should I be looking for bottles that say they are BPA/BPH free? Are there any other concerns as far as the chemicals in the baby bottles? What are the dangers of these chemicals (I've read they can be linked to autism/child cancers)?

I'm a bit clueless on this topic, so help would be appreciated!

SafeMama™ | The Original One-stop child safety, product recall, health, well-being, eco-conscious resource for parents here is a site that has a lot of information, including lists of bottles that are BPA free ,
don't know all that much to answer your questions as I always used the BPA free bottles myself so didnt read too much into it(Medela bottles hooked onto the pump, transferred into Lansinoh bags and stored, and the used those bags directly into Playtex Drop-In nurser bottles to feed- all BPA free)

BPA free is definitely the way to go. BPA has been shown to cause reproductive issues, causing the reproductive system to mature at a scary rate. I believe in Canada they had seen a case of a 3-year-old girl beginning menses due to such high toxicity of BPA. Canada has banned this from being in bottles.

I use Playtex drop-in nursers with the liners. These have proved to be the most sanitary and safest for my family.

BPA free bottles are all over the place now, very easy to find! Some are uber expensive (we bought the BornFree bottles for DS when they were new-ish, we paid $8 each and he hated them!) but there are plenty that are reasonably priced. I think WM has a Gerber 3 pack for around $3.

BPA-free is highly important in my opinion but I think most bottles are now BPA free. Check the packaging - it's usually in big letters. Playtex Drop Ins are my fave too - b/c I don't want to be washing bottles like crazy but it is more expensive cause you have to buy liners all the time.

I've been trying to research BPA and chemicals in toys now.

Man, I was reading the website link that Carisal put up, and I didn't realize all the scary chemicals that are in different baby things. It's all rather frightening and overwhelming.

I agree, all the chemicals are scary! There are glass bottles available, although they're a little tougher to find than plastic (at least in my area) - they're probably the most natural/least chemically. Something to look into if you're interested!

We were going to use glass bottles but opted for the Playtex Drop-In's as well.

With autism there is no real link from any source that causes it. There is still alot of research to be done. The concern with the BPA is not a huge one. If you are really worried about it you can go with glass bottles or if your worried about them breaking then you can go with the playtex drop ins bottles. The liners are bpa free and its easy for the baby to hold the bottle and not suck any air in since you can squeeze the air out of the bag. The only concern with BPA really is microwaving the milk with the plastic bottles.

Thanks for all the info as I've been wondering about this myself :)

Are the bottles that are BPA FREE always have that printed on the box or bottle?

I got a set of Playtex bottles as a gift and the package didn't say BPA FREE, I opened it and the bottle didn't have any sign as if it is BPA FREE or not, how can I know about this?
