| Training pants-..stockpiling before the fact. ... *??* should I even bother Can anybody give me any advice on buying training pants in advance? the Huggies are going on sale at Walgreens on 3/8 and seems to me to be a pretty decent price(after sale, coupons, RRs and caregivers rebate) for them......
my DD is 11 months old and I have no idea when it comes to buying training pants. she is on the lower end of the growth charts, about 10th percentile weight and height........ from what I see on the huggies site, they go in sizes 2t-3t, 3t-4t, and 4t-5t.
so I am thinking about buying some in the smaller 2 sizes... :shrug7:
now I feel like I am rambling, so I guess my questions are.... how long was your child in training pants and was that long enough to go up a size at all? about how many training pants did you use in a week?
(I know I use about a pack and a half jumbo packs of diapers for DD but I'm thinking it would be less with training pants if they are good about going to the potty, right?)
....and anything else you can add that might help me.... :hectic1: :shrug7:
I plan to start showing her the potty when she starts walking on her own, which hasnt happened yet.
thanks!

I always wish we had a kroger, but the closest one is over an hour away.... I cant afford the gas to get out there and there be none of what I went for  I only have $2 qs and dont see $3 in the database, are those mfr qs or kroger?
the wags deal is not too bad, I figured it to be 9.50 for 3 packs if I did the math right on the caregivers rebate, I have to double check the amount and if there is a limit on how many you can submit for though
$10 *3 pullups =$30
-$10 rr wyb $25 worth =$20
-3*$2mfq/-$6 =$14/3 pkgs
-3*$1.50 caregivers rebate /-$4.50 = $9.50 for 3 packs after all said and done.... edit: I did get the caregivers rebate wrong, it is only .75 a pack rebate from there, making it 11.75 for 3 packs. |

He is just about done, but we will still buy training pants for overnights until he has that under control.
I am not sure how long most kids are in training pants, but we've been using them for a while.
ETA: Actually, we stocked up on quite a bit on training pants before he was ready for them, but we long since went through that stockpile. When I was stocking up I figured that I could just save them for DS#2. I noticed your pregnant so even if you overstock for your first you still have #2 that can use them. |
I'm thinking that I will buy just 1 or 2 packs of the size 3t-4t and several packs of the 2t-3t, and yes we are already expecting another and planning on having 2 more so no real fears of having too many diapers, etc Its just the issue of storage space I want to keep it to what we will use. I would definitely rather spend $10ish to get 3 packs than the same amount on just 1.
thanks to everyone for replying!
about how long does a jumbo pack of the training pants last for you guys? in the beginning? and near the end? |

| Re: Training pants-..stockpiling before the fact. ... *??* should I even bother Having potty trained 3 kids, I find pull ups absolutely worthless for potty training. Once the kids pees in them once and figures out that they are really just a diaper it is all over. The feel n' learn don't seem to be any better.
In my experience if you are really serious about potty training you need to put them in old fashioned training pants or even regular underwear so that they learn the consequences of peeing their pants. In fact, I prefer to start potty training with the kid naked from the waist down for several days. It is much easier for them to make it in time if they don't have to deal with clothes.
OTOH, pull-ups are great for nighttime. It might make me a bad parent, but I refuse to wake my children up in the night so they can go to the bathroom. I would rather just keep them in pull-ups a few more months until they can stay dry all night by themselves.

We went to strictly big boy undies this past week, and he has only had a handful of accidents after the first day in the big boy undies. He has also been dry at night except once when he was awake but didnt get out of bed in time.
That being said, DS wore pullups long before we were ready to potty train because they were easier to put on him as he got more mobile and was running. |
