Default What's a good Preschool Homeschool program?

DS (2) is a huge learner. He absorbs everything (as do most 2 year olds), and I want to get some sort of program I can use with him. Lesson plans or activities or something. What do you do with your two year old as sort of a homeschool preschool? We practice counting, letters, colors, etc already, but I want something new and more formalized with activities or coloring pages or something. I'm not creative enough to just make up my own stuff.

I wouldn't do anything. 2 is too young for anything very formal. The best plan is to READ, READ, READ.

At about age 4-5 I would recommend Before Five in a Row and Five in a Row. They are cheap and you can find them on Ebay, Amazon, etc. . . .

I used the Abeka program with my three year old last year and I liked that, they have stuff for two and three year olds up. It is a little more expensive and it is christian based, I think I spent about $300 for the year.

Starfall.com and letteroftheweek.com are online and free. You will have to print out the worksheets that go along with the letter of the week curriculum. Major bookstores sell complete curriculum books, as do teacher supply stores, and don't forget your library. You can probably get the books "What Your K needs to know", "What your 1st grader Needs to Know" from the Core Knowledge series to preview from the library. You can really do a prek curriculum entirely from the library very easily with a few workbooks from the dollar tree thrown in. HTH

thanks for the suggestions! I was telling my mom about my search, and she called a DCP friend who relayed to me her state approved curriculum for 2 year olds. I'm looking for the books online now. She did say that she gets all of her flash cards and such at Dollar Tree.

Don't forget puzzles. My three year has been doing puzzles for "school" (when I am teaching her brother) for a year. She can now do the box puzzles that are for 5+. She does alot of coloring and water paint.

I agree with someone else comment. READ READ READ. It will teach her grammar without you "teaching" it. We use sonlight. You might want to order a catalog and just check the books out from the library.

It is never to young to start teaching, right now their brains are little sponges. My son knows the first five Presidents from just "playing" with flashcards.

I didn't even know there was a state curriculum for children of that age From what I've read, reading and some basic puzzles get children off to a head start. There is a lot of good material available from Amazon in the educational section.
