Thanks I see we are due just a couple weeks within each other. Trust me I have no preggo secrets, this pregnancy is vastly different than with my DD. I have been sick, tired and just not all that great this time. With her I felt amazing. This time all I want is a nap.

Default Re: I'm Pregnant, so who else is too.

So, I went to the doctor today. There's good news and bad news. The good news is that the baby seems to be growing and my blood pressure is good. The bad news is that they don't think the baby is growing enough, and they are also concerned about the hip pains I've been having, as well as the fact that I've now progressed to having some cramps and my legs and ankles are swelling a lot, too.

My doctor said I need to be concerned, but not really worried yet. I need to make sure I'm eating more since apparently, I'm still losing weight and at this point, I shouldn't be. The baby is growing a little, but she's still on the small side. Also, it turns out the cramping and hip pains may indicate that I could go into premature labor. She said this is caused by too much activity, and she said it's important that I lay down as much as possible. Unfortunately, I work full-time and have an hour and a half commute each way, she said said it would be best to either cut down my hours or shorten my commute, b/c basically I am out of bed for 12 straight hours every day and that's not good for the baby.

I also told her that my job is not very supportive of me eating a lot (I'm not allowed to eat at my desk nor take extra snack breaks) or putting my feet up, and she said that I should talk to my boss and if it becomes necessary, she will write up written instructions that I have to follow at work (which they can't discriminate against since it's part of my "condition").

She also said that for all intents and purposes, I need to be done with traveling now. I'm already out of bed and in the car too much during the week, so unless it's to work or the doctor, no car trips over 30 minutes (which rules out visiting my family which I'm not too unhappy about since they drive me crazy ).

I have another appointment in two weeks and we're going to see how things are then. DH is freaking out and he's being very protective of me now. The doctor said if I follow her guidelines that everything is going to be fine, but I can't help but be worried about my little girl. I'm also worried about my blood test, we did my glucose screening today, and the last thing anyone needs is for me to be diagnosed with GD.

Anyway, sorry to depress everyone, but I just wanted to get it out to people who understand. I can't really tell my friends/family b/c it will worry them too much and cause them all to smother me even more than they do now, and that's the last thing I need. I just need more rest. Thanks for listening (reading).

Regbyandjulie, I glad to hear that the baby is doing fine, but I'm sad to hear what is actually going on with you. I hope your boss does what is right before he is forced to do it by dr's orders. I would be very unhappy to have to drive as far as you do, but I hope things works out for you real soon.

I went in today for my regular check-up and everything looks fine. She had a hard time finding the babies heartbeat, but she was able to get it. She said he/she was doing a lot of moving around. I've also mentioned to her about some bumps that being breaking out all over my body and she said that it was just pimples and that I need to put some Clearasil on it. Hopefully that will clear it up, but she said that it is very common during pregnancy. I've never had anything like this to happen to me. 3 kids and never this many problems before. This baby is really doing a number on me. What makes these so call pimples bad is that they are not on my face, but on my bum bum and you can imagine sitting down, oh the pain. She said that if they start looking worse to call her and she would get me on some antibiotics to help take care of it.

Hope everyone is doing well today with their pregnancies.

Aww thanks! I'm sorry about your pimples! I'm getting more, too, except they are on my back and shoulders. You're close to being able to find out if you're having a boy/girl, right? Are you going to find out or wait and be surprised?

I've started eating at my desk anyway. I hide food in my drawers, and since our office has a lot of glass walls, I can usually see if someone is coming before they get within sight of my desk, so I should be able to munch on some snacks without anyone knowing.

I got my blood work back this morning (which was super fast since they just drew it yesterday, lol). I do NOT have Gestational Diabetes (which was a huge concern since I have a very long family history of Type II Diabetes) so that is a BIG relief. I DO, however, have Iron-Deficiency Anemia and I have to take iron supplements now, which is awful. I have a choking phobia, so I have a hard time swallowing pills, it's all very dramatic. My DH has to chop up my big prenatal vitamins and feed them to be in applesauce, lol. Unfortunately, I have to take the ones the doctor told me to take, but I will do it for my baby. I'm going to be super mom, lol.

I'm actually feeling good today (less pain), and right now I'm at work snacking on some roast beef and cantalope so hopefully it will be a good day!

Roast beef for breakfast, how funny Yes we are going to find out what we are having in 4 weeks. I am only 15wks and 5 days so very soon we will know. Hopefully the baby will be in a position to be able to tell exactly. I myself am no looking forward to taking that diabetes test. It never fails that I have to take the longest one. Each time I miss it and have to come back and take couple of hours test and i hate that, but it eventually turns out that I don't have it anyway. I'm sorry to hear that you cant' take your pills like a big girl, been there done that. But sometimes the pills that they give us are designed for horses, there is no way humans should have to take such large pills and then on top of that they be pretty nasty sometimes I'm taking iron pills myself, well at least I am suppose to be taking them cuz mine is low as well.

You continue to do your snacking, cuz you need that energy and nutrition for you baby, so snack on

I have NEVER passed the one hour glucose test. :shrug7: I always have to do the two hour one now (it used to be three hours). My drs test TWICE for gestational diabetes, at 16 and 28 weeks. I'm going next Friday for my test. I opted for the two hour one since I'll fail the one hour one anyway. I'd rather take ONE two hour test then take BOTH the one hour and the two hour. LOL Hopefully I pass it. I don't know how anyone will survive in this house if I have gestational diabetes. They think I'm grumpy now......ha!

I also have my ultrasound on Wed. I am SO EXCITED. I have been counting down the days since we scheduled this at 8 weeks. Hopefully the baby cooperates and we can find out what we're having. If not we'll have to wait until 36 weeks when we have the "size" ultrasound.

I'm feeling this is a boy. Of course, I thought that with my last one. LOL Hubby wants a boy so he has someone "on his side" but will be happy with either.

My DH has been feeding me beef ever since we found out I am anemic. I've had beef every day for the last four days!

Also, he has come up with a genius way to get me to take my pills. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. Since they aren't gel caps, they can be chopped up, so my DH has started chopping up my prenatals and my iron pills as well as a fiber pill (recommended by my doctor so I don't have to go back to that AWFUL constipation problem) and putting them in apple sauce so that they are easy for me to swallow and don't taste bad. It's actually working out pretty well, especially since between the prenatals, iron, and fiber pills, I'm now taking 6 pills per day! Oh, the things we mommies suffer for our babies. But at least now I can take them really easily. I love my DH!

Maybe we've scared them all away.

Also, I wanted to mention, that my good friend is pregnant and she has a really bad case of Gestational Diabetes. It blows my mind though, b/c MY doctors were like "you'll probably have it" since I have a family history of type 2 diabetes and started off my pregnancy being a bit overweight, yet my number was in the middle of the range even after I pigged out on ice cream last week. My friend, meanwhile, is Japanese, is super skinny, never ate sugar, and was always healthy, but she has really bad GD, she can't even eat rice (which is a staple)!

I just think it's crazy how that all works.

I went today for my 24 week checkup. I gained 6lbs since my last appt, boooooooo!!!! I must stop eating cookies!

All is good, heartbeat still at 150 for my lil' guy and I go in for my glucose testing next month and hopefully schedule my c-sec at that appt.

I am going to start walking in the am b/c my feet and hands are already swelling by the evenings...blech I still have 3 months of 100degree heat to work through!!
