The Cream of the Crop pump is a Medela Pump In Style. Check with your insurance company. Some reimburse, some will with a prescription, some have in house purchase discounts.

By the way, renting for a month or two is about a third (or more) of the cost of just buying the thing outright and having it forever. Tends to be anywhere from $40-75 a month to rent.

I want to chime in here...

Not only do I recommend the PIS Advanced or the newer version someone mentioned by Medela, but I also recommend the Expressly Yours Hands Free bra. You can pump both sides at once AND read a book, cut coupons, whatever...

Being able to double pump (both sides at once) and doing it hands free gives you 15-20 minutes of "mommy time" that you will otherwise probably never have! My view was...I need to sit here and do this...so I might as well indulge myself in a book or magazine while I'm at it! All of that would have been impossible if I was having to hold the pump valves/bottles!

I had a purely yours from ameda but didn't like it. I then got a PIS advanced from medela and used it 3X a day at work until dd was 1. I loved the PIS more then I can say. I used it with an easy expresion pumping bra.

The new freestyle from medela has been getting rave reviews so you might want to look into that.

btw my insurance company paid for all but 30 dollars total for both pumps... which was pretty cheap for me for two very well rated pumps.

I love the Medela pump also. It's the only one that is almost as strong as the ones at the hospital. The only one that can get any milk out of me!!

Another vote for Medella here! I loved it!! One tip - don't waste your money on one at at Walmart (or other mass market place) You may be able to get one for $30, but it won't last. Mine broke after 2 weeks. I tried to tell my friend this, and she didn't want to shell out the money. So she spent $30 and hers broke quickly also. And you can't return breast pumps - so you are out the money.

I have the Medela Swing.. and I love it. I too am at SAHM and just wanted to pump here and there so we could still have date night and stuff.

Its small, like the size of a begal, its quite, and it works!
