My DD was 6lbs 13oz at birth, and wore NB for a long while, breezed through 1's in no time, stayed in 2's for awhile, we did aout 2 packs of 2-3, then she zoomed through 3's and she's on the verge of 4's! She's about 18lbs, she isnt *chunky* but she's just stocky with a bubble butt (cutest bubble butt I'd ever seen!)

Its so hard to say how long each baby will stay in a certain size, because the weight limits vary. (size 3 up to 28lbs my butt!)

Yep, my DD has a nice little rear too, and she stayed in size 3's until she was about 21 lbs, at 13 months or so. There are some kids who wear 3s while weighing considerably more, but they aren't shaped like my daughter.

I have it easy--I have a friend whose baby is going to be about 6 months younger than my little one is. I can stock as many diapers as I will use plus some extra just in case and the friend will buy my extras for what I paid--so I can't lose.

my 21 month old is still in size 3's, my 5 month old is in 2's...so I would go with 1 and 2's

Default Re: Diaper Stockpile?

Both of my kids are in 4's. DS is 2 yrs old and DD is 6 months old.

DD is huge for her age (22+ lbs) and DS is small for his age (26 lbs but 3'2")....I think size 4's are the size that kids are in for the longest. I would skip NB altogether just because babies grow so fast in that first couple of weeks. MAYBE 1 pack, but DD outgrew those before a week was up.

It is hard to get other people's advice on what size to get simply because every baby is different (take for example my kids and the kids in the post above mine. approx. same ages but really different sizes)

Default Advice Needed. How many diapers and what size should I buy?

Please give me advice! I'm due to have my first baby (a boy!!) on November 1st, 2008. This Walgreens deal is so great and I am doing my best to stock up on diapers even though I'm unsure what sizes to get. I have plenty of room to store these so space is not an issue for me.

Here is what I have bought so far:
Newborn: 3 packages (for babies up to 10 lbs)
Size 1: 6 packages (for babies 8-14 lbs)
Size 2: 3 packages (for babies 12-18 lbs)
Size 3: 2 packages (for babies 16-28 lbs)
Size 4: 8 packages (for babies 22-37 lbs)
Size 5: 1 package (for babies 27+ lbs)
Size 6: 7 packages (for babies 35+ lbs)
Size 2T/3T Pullups: 9 packages (for babies up to 34 lbs)
Size 3T/4T Pullups: 17 packages (for babies 32-40 lbs)
Size 4T/5T Pullups: 4 packages (for babies 38+ lbs)

If you are wondering why I have so many pullups it's because the Walgreens here were out of the smaller sizes. The store employees said it is possible to exchange diapers for different sizes as long as I came back within 30 days with a receipt.

So, here are my 2 questions:
1) How many diapers should I buy total? I'm willing to get 100+ since these are costing me so little and I want to save money in the long run.
2) Approximately, how many of each size do I need?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I'll be checking this thread often since I'm hoping to stock up this week while diapers are $5.99.

Thanks
Joan

Default Re: Advice Needed. How many diapers and what size should I buy?

Here's a few facts in my house:
Newborns wear approximately 300 diapers a month. (8-12 per day)
My 18 month old DS wears approximately 180 per month. (6 per day)
My 3.5 year old DD wears approximately 150 per month. (5 per day)
- cannot WAIT for her to want to potty train!!!

Default Re: Advice Needed. How many diapers and what size should I buy?

I would recommend the following:

I went through about 10 packs size 2's on both my kids.
Atleast 20 packs of size 3
Atleast 30 packs of size 4

Some kids don't ever need a 5 or higher. These run a little small so you will probably need some though. My daughter is 18 months and the 4's fit her perfect. My son is big for his age (6 months and 23 pounds or so) and the 3's are a little tight on him but still fit well.

Hope this helps.

check out Mrs. Pinecone's lengthy (but awesome) thread on guessimating the number of diapers you need per baby! http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums...-improved.html
