I was wondering the same thing! I thought, "Um, maybe I missed a post or something to get that good of a deal!" Please share!!!

All my totals are downstairs in my desk, but baby is due in August and I *think* I have enough 1s and 2s taking into account other factors (showers, gifts) plus the ones I have already. I could probably use a few more 3s. I have some 4s and some Feel & Learns. My grandma gives my sister a big package of diapers everytime she sees her and she made the comment to me that I'd be getting the same when the baby is here. She's given her three packages of size 1s (her baby is probably almost into size 2s now, but I'm sure grandma doesn't realize it and will continue to buy size 1 for awhile!). So I could always exchange them for other sizes if I need to (if grandma does indeed give me some). I registered for some 3s and 4s just to put on my registry so we'll see what happens with that. I've been going off the list Mrs.P gave!

I have another question, would you **generally** say they're in sizes 1 through 3 in one year? I'm just trying to estimate, which I know is impossible anyway. Granted it depends on the size of the baby, but for an average baby, would you say they're in size 3 at their 1st b-day?

Here's my ds' info FWIW. He was 10 lb 3 oz at birth (no, he wasn't overdue).

8 weeks - moves to size 2 diapers, 15 lb 4 oz
12 weeks - moves to size 3 diapers, 16 lb 6 oz
30 weeks - moves to size 4 diapers, 20 lb

Currently 18 mo. 26 lb and still in size 4.

LOL

I wouldn't say a 10 pounder is an average baby! (I had one, too!)

We went from 1s to 2s at about 10 weeks.

My son is 5 1/2 months old (23.3 weeks), and we only switched from 2s to 3s at approximately 5 months (20/21 weeks) -- he's LONG and very lean-- 16ish lb and 28.5 inches long.

Hmm. Not sure on DS's size but should get a "guess" at the next ultrasound in less than two weeks, but everyone knows those are sometimes wrong also! I'm tall (5 11) and DH is average height...we were both average size babies, 7 11 and 7 12. I don't expect him to be small by any means, but not 10 pounds either! I think I just better get a few more size 3s and then go to 4s then. Thanks!!

How do you know what type of diaper to buy? I bought a friend diapers turns out she can only wear cruisers? And I might have bought a different brand? I mean the lady told me only one type doesn't leak, and it's not the generic. What do you do if you stockpile? Just buy multiple brands and see which fits your kid?

I have multiple brands. If something causes a rash, I'll try to exchange them (if I can) or give them away as shower gifts or sell them I guess. I've heard generally leaks are caused when you need to go up to the next size. I guess if that doesn't work, then we will change more often to use up those diapers. I know a lot of people prefer the Cruisers, though.

You buy whatever you can get cheap. Most people find that they can make any brand work. If there is a brand that doesn't work for you and you have a bunch they make great baby shower gifts. They also make great donations to battered woman's shelters, food pantrys, and that kind of thing. Sure, you probably spent some money on those packs, but they makes a great donation for very little cash, are going to someone who REALLY can't aford to buy them, are often deductable depending on where you donate , and you will still probably spend less than if you wait until you need them to buy them.

I have yet to find a brand that doesn't "work". The only times that I have had leaks are when he's ready to go up a size. Some people are just diaper snobs, and want the brand name.

I have used Pampers Swaddlers and Baby Dry, Huggies regular and supreme, CVS regular and supreme, Luvs, White Cloud and Rite Aid.

I hate the Pampers because of the "powder fresh scent", but otherwise, they all work.

There's a thread on favorite diapers in this forum.

Default Re: Diaper Stockpile?

the .50 diaper packs (and wipes) were last week...this week, they went up a little!

buy 5 feel n learn for $9.54 each ($47.70)
buy 5 kandoo wipes for $2.84 each ($14.20)
Total is $61.90
use 5 $2 off feel n learn mfg coupons
use 5 free kandoo wyb fnl diapers coupons
use 5 $3 off target printables wyb diapers and wipes (pampers brand)
use 3 $5 off your order wyb $20 worth of p&g products
total is now $7.70 so $1.54 for diapers and wipes!!

My target is completely out of the feel n learn boys diapers so they are letting me substitute easy ups for feel n learns. I have even resorted to buying the girls to exchange for later as I have one boy and one boy on the way!!

I have been taking advantage of the similac and good start clearance with my formula checks as well as the renu contac lens solution ($4 printables at renu.com and the clearance price is $4.88 for a smp of renu with 33% more FREE) just to make sure I don't get "questioned" about the $15 in p&g/target printables.

hth!
