Mrs. Pinecone~ One question, what size packs are you in general referring to? I have been buying packs with about 40ish in them, are you getting that size or the ones that have closer to 100? I know the packs give you less as the size goes up, but with coupies and super sales I have been getting the smaller packs.

She is referring to Jumbo packs-I asked the same question while I was stockpiling for my son.

What a really neat Idea! My sisters won't be having anymore baby showers but this is a cute idea I just might keep it under my hat.

Rep to Noras momma. I just bought three jumbo packs of 2s at ShopRite using coupies and the P&G Visa Deal, and the 10.00 oynp... so I got the 3 packs for under 11c per diaper which isn't too bad since i am new to the diaper deals and don't have some of the good deal stores near me. My goal is 10c or less.

Another question from a newbie. For those that stockpiled ahead of time, did you keep all your receipts in case you needed to exchange sizes? Do all stores do this? And is there a time limit? I'm not due until May, so that's already at least 4 months for the diapers I'm buying now. Or, if you were planning to have another kid in the future, did you just save any extras for the next LO's stockpile?
TIA!

I didn't save any receipts...had to mail most of them in for the Caregiver's Marketplace rebate (dead deal now). I figured if I had to, I could probably exchange them without a receipt. I knew the 3 stores they all came from. I didn't have any problems, though...so far and we are getting ready to switch to size 5's (I have 39 packs of those) and I don't think he will go to size 6 before potty trained.

I would just error on the side of having too few packs...you can always buy more to get you through to the next size. Also, there is a grace period between sizes that a baby could wear either size, so you can stretch size 2's a bit longer if you still have some or if you run out go ahead and switch to size 3's a little bit early.

The only size I "messed" up on was size 3, I did not have enough...but about the time I figured this out, Riteaid ran one of their specials and I "bought" 6 packs (3 per rebate done from 2 households) which got me through to the size 4s if that makes sense.

Be careful with the Pull-ups. My son never wore a 3t/4T or larger pull-up. He potty trained from the 2T/3T size. I wouldn't get too many of these until you know you will use them.

I don't think we're going to use PullUps at all. DS is not even remotely interested in potty training (at just over 3), so it will be a straight to underwear transition for him.

Default Help with diaper stockpile questions?

I am due in mid april with my first baby and have started to stockpile diapers for him.
I have researched the message boards on stockpiling quantities but still have questions.

I have not just bought jumbo packs, but various boxed diapers already. I have found based on the recommendations for jumbo packs compared with the average amount of diapers in each size how many actual diapers I should stockpile.

Size 1 recommemded 10 packs (total 560 diapers)
Size 2 recommended 15 packs (total 720 diapers)
Size 3 recommended 35 packs (total 1400 diapers)
Size 4 recommended 35 packs (total 1190 diapers)

Does this sound accurate for what we will actually use based on quantitiy and Ms Pinecone's suggestions? Since this is my first child I don't know if it sounds like too many or not enough?

If that is the case I have already in Size 1=527 total, Size 2=252 total, Size 1-2=612 total, Size 3=434 total, and no Size 4 or above at this point. Since I have so many size 1-2 I think I would have enough to cover those recommendations because the diapers state up to 15 lbs and I have enough of just Size 2 to last for those weights. What is your opinion of what I have now??

Any help is much appreciated because I have not had a baby shower yet or been given any diapers. My goal will be to use the gifts of any diapers as returns for size 3s and 4s to help with the larger sizes.

Default Re: Help with diaper stockpile questions?

I would say based on your #'s averaged per pack and what you have in 1's, 1-2's and 2's, you should be good through 2's. I personally would not buy anymore of those sizes and if you NEED 2's as you get closer to the end of what you have then buy, but you could always move up to 3's at that point depending on the size of your baby.

I am due with my second in mid April but I didn't stockpile with my first. I don't have much of a stockpile yet as my first is still in diapers too. I have right now 1 - NB, 8 - 1's, and 4 - 2's (spending time at parents when little one will be this size so not stocking too many). I haven't even moved on to 3's yet because we don't have a lot of storage space.

I would rather have too few in a size (close to what I need but not too many) because I don't know how my stores would be about exchanging sizes way after they are bought. Some people have really good luck exchanging and others don't so it is definitely a YMMV situation.
