Default Diaper Stockpile

I once read a thread about stockpiling diapers. It told people how many packages of each size to start buying. I was wondering what happened to that thread?

Second, I am due in February 2010. Talking with friends, who recently had babies, how do I know which type of diaper fits best? They all said that different babies fit different diapers.

If I stockpile how do I know I'm not wasting money?

I had my first baby 3.5 weeks ago. She weighed 7 pounds when she was born and is probably close to 9 pounds now (she loves to eat!). I've personally found that the Pampers Swaddlers fit her the best. Huggies Newborn diapers are a bit larger than the Pampers. She's already gone through just over 200 diapers. I stockpiled only 3 packages of the newborn size and wish I would have done a lot more. It all depends on the size of the baby though. I have 700 size 1s and 800 size 2s, but I have a feeling those may not be enough as fast as she went through the newborns. Sorry, I'm rambling and I'm probably not much help. Good luck!

Most newborns need about 10 diaper changes per day for the first couple of months, and unless your child is really large, it should be in newborns for at least 2 months. 31 days x 2 x 10 = 620 diapers.

As for brand, that's pretty much personal preference unless your child is allergic to a particular brand. If you find you hate Pampers and are dying for Huggies, exchange them.

i'm also stocking up on diapers, i'm due on oct, i only bought one newborn size and bought about 8 size 1 and now im building up my stock pile to size 2 i figured it's better to have less small sizes than having 2 much of it and the baby will not be able to use it. just like macaela25 said, brands are really just personal preference. since i'm stocking up and buying them when it's cheap, the brand doesn't really matter.

my stockpile consists of pampers, huggies, and luvs.

Do all diapers fit on most people's babies? Did you find a brand preference for those moms who have babies?

My son was only in newborns for about 2 weeks. I found that Huggies work best on him and my other friends who have boys feel the same way, but my friends who have girls prefer Pampers. I also really like the Kroger comfort brand and the CVS supremes. They work great. I don't like Luvs or the Target brand. He was in size 2's and 3's the longest.

My baby was in Newborn size for only a week until she peed so much at one time that she leaked right through them. I like both Huggies and Pampers, but if I'm buying them myself, I prefer Huggies b/c there are generally more sales and coupons on Huggies diapers.

My ds is built like a brick house. He was in size 4's for about a month, maybe a month and a half. He was in size 5 for over a year (from about 9 months to 2 years old). He always had a chubby little hiney and the Huggies worked best for him. Now my 5 month old dd has no hiney, but big thighs. I can't stand the Huggies sumpremes on her and my favorite are the regular Pampers.

I guess what we're all trying to say is every baby is different. I would stock up on those unbelievable sales before the baby is born and then once he/she gets here, see what works best and stock up from there.

newborn diapers are really small, so I would start out buying number 1 say 10 to 12 bags of those to start off with, she will use about 2 of the ruglar jumbo bags a week. Then I would buy some number 2's if I was going to buy her that many bags of diapers..

I have g/b twins, so I would like to tell you that Huggies is the best choice for a girl because pampers are really bad about leaking that gel stuff from inside of the diapers and can cause a baby girl to have a yeast infection(been there done that). I like both kind huggies and pampers but I think huggies has better coupons and sales than papmpers do or they do here but now I only buy Huggies due to the yeast infection thing....I used huggies for months and got a deal on some pampers about a week after using them on her I had to take her to the doctor and the only thing that had changed was the pampers diapers and the doctor asked if the gel was leaking on them and I said yes and he said that was most likely the casue,so I went back to huggies and have not had any problems since.
