| Re: Has anyone used "Your Baby Can Read" program? We haven't used the program, but we let our kids decide when to read on their own. Our now five year old, knew all the letters and sounds (and could write words) shortly after she turned 4. Now we started homeschooling in August (she's supposed to be in kindergarten) and she is sailing through the 1st grade reading comprehension, spelling, phonics, etc. She has independently read over 80 books since September. (We've been slacking the last couple weeks because we've been packing to move). Basically, she just picked up a book one day and read it.
So, just make sure you are listening to your child's cues. Our 2nd dd, who is now 4, already can read more than our first daughter did at her age. I look forward to stimulating her desire to learn without pushing it on her.

That was kind of odd to hear, because how are we supposed to slow her down? We don't force her to read, she loves it, we've always have read her a bed time story, and then she'll stay up and read a couple of books before she goes to sleep. She is pretty much on level with everything else compared to her classmates, so it was weird to be told to slow down. |
Wow, that's kind of sad. Your kid's to smart try to keep her from getting smarter.....umm yeah. Now really very cool. |

| Re: Has anyone used "Your Baby Can Read" program? I read at an early age and was at a 4th grade reading level when I started 1st grade. My parents and teachers had a meeting and decided that during reading time I would go to whatever grade level I was at so that I was stimulated. I learned alot of social skills this way because I had to interact with kids 3 years older than me.
I have a 4 y/o DS who can read some but not much. We just work with him when he wants.
