I got my refund check today for $100.00. I am happy, now I can replace what I sent them.

I was Carter's OBSESSED and it seems everyone that bought me clothing was too. My daughter was diagnosed with severe eczema at 4 mo old. Since she was 6 mo we were told to start using a steroid cream on the areas that were bad (where the tags were) to keep it under control. Since returning the Carter's clothes I have not put new carters on her and everything is better! I sent my clothes back Early Nov and it took 2 weeks to get my check back. I got 660 and I estimated about 750. I looked at websites like JC Penney and Sears to find the original prices of the clothes. Also from buying so much I knwo the 5 onesie sets retail 24.00 new, sleepers usually 20 each...Makes me sick to think that it might have been avoided had I not put her in Carters :(

I just wanted to say thank you to the OP for posting about this. I sent my baby's clothes back about 3 weeks ago, and today I got a refund check for $146.00. I had estimated it would be about $160.00-$165.00, so a little less, but i'm still happy.

I didnt know what to expect cause not a lot of people are writting what they sent it to get back what they did. I emailed about 3 weeks ago and just got my check today. So from start to finish was about 3 weeks for me.
Here's what I sent in:
6 sleepers
1 two piece pajama
6 onsies
3 One piece outfits
6 two piece outfits
1 two piece sweats outfit

For all that I received $344.00

Shoot! I'm glad I found this thread. DD received clothing as gifts from this line (I guess from people who shopped sales - I have no problems with that). She has had this rash on her neck etc since 1 month - pedi since it's fine, it will go away, and it hasn't yet - we have some steroid cream but I hate using that strong stuff on a small baby. I had no idea it was attributable to her clothes cause I figured all her clothes were from the 08 line. I guess I should try calling/emailing them. I wonder if it's too late... looks like it's still one their site. Also from my mom - I don't think she knew, and I didn't know either!

From my baby board today:

I had passed on the info on the fall '07 Carters returns to a few friends of mine. One of them just requested a mailing label and on her letter that she received this week, it states that she needs to sign the form confirming this is her entire return and include her social security number for potential 1099 reporting.

I don't recall anything my letter saying anything like that. She certainly doesn't want to send her ssn in a box filled with clothes to complete strangers. Why would they need this?

My Reply:

Well, I am going to go out on a very short limb here and guess that people have been scamming Carter's because they are being generous in their return amounts, and Carter's is trying to limit their liability.

My best guess is that scammers have been scouring yard sales and thrift shops for Fall 07 merchandise and making multiple returns.

As for the 1099, if you receive more than $600 in compensation from any one source in a tax year, you must pay taxes on that amount. Again, people who are taking advantage of Carter's in the ways that I mentioned are probably getting way more than $600.
