Vitamins are supposed to help make you healthier now we hear they have lead in them. WTH this very upsetting. Which vitamins are the ones without the lead in them?

The FDA has found lead in 320 of 324 vitamins they had tested for lead.
That's right, only four (4!) had no detectable levels of lead. Included in the study were children's vitamins, women's, prenatal and vitamins for lactating women.
Although the FDA has said there is no safe level of lead - they are not recalling any of the vitamins - stating that they all contain safe/tolerable levels of lead!
I'm tossing all our vitamins, ordering the ones that are lead free and having my son tested for lead.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.
Lots of things have lead in them... like plain old dirt.
My son takes vitamins, was tested for lead, and is fine. You would have absolutely no idea whether elevated lead levels would have come from vitamins, playing outside or exposure to lead paint.
And looking at the table, his potential exposure is less than three one-hundredths of a microgram (one- one thousandth of a gram) per serving, when the estimated exposure from all sources is 25 micrograms PER DAY. I don't think vitamins are my biggest concern.

you get lead from eating stuff grown in dirt. Now how exactly am I supposed to NOT eat things grown in dirt? If I catch DD sucking on some lead jewlery, that's another issue.
At some point I have to say, I give up. I survived and I can not overly micro analyze every choice I made for DD.
I agree with the two PPs - the amount of lead found in the children's vitamins is negligible, and if we tried to protect our kids from every microgram of every toxin from every possible source, we'd all be completely nutters. For me, vitamins with miniscule amounts of PB (lead) aren't nearly as concerning as the brightly colored lead paint they found on all those imported toys.
If it makes you feel more at ease to use the vitamins that are lead free and have your son tested, by all means go for it. I'm not overly concerned about it, though![]()
I didn't notice any of my Shaklee ones on the list, but that is okay, they do their own extensive testing and quality control BEFORE they put them on the market, I trust them more then the FDA.
I'm not trying to ruffle feathers, please don't get upset, but growing up we survived lead paint, eating flowers, all that good stuff we did back then that people would absolutely freak about and go see a doctor. We played outside for crying out loud lol! I think the world is just so extremely overly cautious about everything nowadays...
