Default Re: Best Price for Jarred Baby Food?

Please keep this discussion to JARRED baby food. There is an entire thread on homemade baby food if you would like to discuss it there.

Sorry Mrs. P. :)

Do the different brands of baby food matter? I know some babies can't tolerate certain brands of diapers, is it the same with baby food? Or does Beechnut Sweet Potatoes work the same as Gerger Sweet Potatoes for babies?

That's what my daughters first food was. She likes both Gerber and Beechnut. She's had no reactions to them just the give me more mommy reaction. I'm buying all beechnut since its $.40/can and gerber is $.44/can. I know its only $.04 difference but its more money for the piggy bank.

Default Baby Food Buy Price and Deals???

What is your buy price for baby food? Are there any brands better than others?

With diapers I've been able to stick to the .10 or less per diaper and .01 cents a wipe or less mentioned on this site. I've even been able to get some for free or near free. However, I'm clueless about baby food prices.

Also whats the best way to stock up?

With diapers I've mainly used the drug store deals with coupons- is there a "best method" for baby food deals?

Default Re: Baby Food Buy Price and Deals???

In general I found step 2 a better deal than step 1.

Whoever has them on clearance tends to be the best deal LOL. check the adds each week and stock up when someone has a really good deal.

Some stores sell generics...so we would buy those

But on the clearance ones...make sure they are not expiring soon.

There are coupons out there...but sometimes there not worth it. $1.00 off 15 jars woo woo (kwim).

You can also make your own and some like applesauce...I always just go buy applesauce not use the baby stuff.

Default Re: Baby Food Buy Price and Deals???

Baby food is a tougher one. My buy price was always $.25/2pack but I usually got it cheaper.

First of all Stage 1 food is a waste of time and money. The Stage 2 is the same price and more of it and it is the same consistency.

My youngest is 13 months and here are some of the things I did over the last year. He is still eating BN homestyle...because it is free.

K-mart - During a Super Doubles when my youngest was around a month old. They were on sale for $1 per 2 pack. I bought 40 coupons for $1/2 Gerber off of E**y. This made the first 80 2-packs free. I had these sitting and waiting so I could buy the other deals along and along.

There is the free baby food coupon our right now (BN Homestyles...I bought 100 of them for 10 cents each. People are still selling them.

Combining Food Lion FLIPS with manufacturer coupons (watch wording)

Triples at HT. When they were on sale for $1 per 2 pack (or with rainchecks for $1.00). I used the $.75/3 and $.75/4 coupons to get them cheap.

Target - combining homemailers and manu Qs. I didn't get many this way though because not that meany homemailers. (except with older baby when Target put that $1/2 IP out....I fed my oldest for free for 5 months+ with that Q alone....sigh..the good old days).

I am sure I bought them other ways...but those are the ones that stick out:)
