Default is this a good price on baby food? 10/$5 beech nut stage 2 4 oz.

bloom has beech nut stage 2 4 oz 10/$5.
is that a good stock up sale price?

IDK about those because I only just started her on the gerber organic stage 1s which are a little over a dollar normally for the 2 pks (2 oz??) so it seems to be good to me.... but maybe someone knows better. I wont start her on stage 2 for a little while yet but I want to go ahead and stock up if that is good for them.

    thanks!!

I won't pay more than .25 for baby food, so no. Not a stock up price.

My daughter is also on stage two beachnut. We go to walmart where they are .46 cents a jar everyday. They also have the two packs for .94 cents. I find they have more variety than grocery stores too! Hope this helps!

I don't pay more than .33 per baby food. So I wouldn't stock up either.

HELP Re: Best Price for Jarred Baby Food?

I am also looking for deals on baby food. My son is in 2nd foods but trying to get him to eat the chunky food. Now he is 10 months so I'm trying to buy just 3rd foods. I have walmart, target, safeway, smiths (also know as krogers), Grocery ware house (also know as albertson's), kmart, and walgreens. The cheapiest I've found them are 55 cents a jar for beechnut 3rd foods with ebay bought coupons at walmart. They were about 72cents a jar down to 68 cents a jar regular priced for the 3rd foods. Never seem to find gerber coupons on the 3rd foods.

my price is about 2-3 cents a meal when we did "baby food" ...we just used sale veggies and fruits from Meijer's nuked them, let them cool, peeled them, and threw them in magic bullet pored in ice cube tray let freeze and then used them for weeks by sticking a "cube" in the microwave for a few secs in the pamper chef glass prep bowls... we fed dd the majority of her food homemade... it only took about 40 minutes once a month to batch make 3 or four different trays enough for the entire month... and just pop them out of trays into ziplocks.. and it was all organic for the most part... we did very little jar food... personally I don't know why people do the jar food... it takes just as much time to go to the store and buy the jars as it does to make your own and it's way more expensive and it's not as green..also I don't think it's as healthy to do jar food ... once they have been eating "food" for several weeks you can get way more nutritious variety by making your own... I honestly thought it was going to be a huge hassle to make her food but it was really really easy... just cook, peel, blend, pour, and later nuke. Also don't overlook avocado's ... dd loved avocado's .. just peel and serve.. and low allergy so a wonderful first food... and I am a full time working mom and a very busy plate.
I also agree with the pp about the 6 months ... unless there is a medical reason from your doctor to start earlier almost everyone now recommends starting later... for one BM alone is way more nutritious and calorie dense then "food" ( so they are actually losing calories if they are replacing BM with "food) and their bodies can't really process the nutrition from the food at young ages... also many studies now show that it's more likely to have your child develop allergies and other issues if they start solids to early ... it's very old school to start around 4 months .. possibly even dangerous according to some studies ( choking, suffocating etc., causing intestinal issues) I would just check with your pedi. before starting.

By 10 months I was giving him mostly table food. I think I bought 2 jars of 3rd foods for a cake recipe once.

With my first one, I was super lucky in that just as he was starting baby food, we had that friggin awesome Target deal with the jars for $0.02. I loaded up several months' worth and then I was done.

This time, my plan is to take advantage of super deals. Baby due in March, 6 mos after that is September 09, so I'm aware of exp dates. If it's $0.15-0.20, that's a stock up price for me. Otherwise, if I need to, my plan is to only buy a week's worth at a time, utilizing sales & coupons, and just buying what I need until super deals hit.

I wish my son could eat table food. I worry about the sugar and salt content though and the fat. But besides that he chokes on beechnut vegtable turkey dinner which has whole peas. He isn't good at chewing lately. He can chew gerber graduates poofs and yogurt melts. So its still baby food for awhile.

There seem to be lots of baby food deals around.
Publix has had great deals on Earth's Best Organic (.10-.15 per jar) and a free with coupons Beech Nut sale just ended today.
You can also sign up for the Gerber pledge and get $3 worth of free baby food plus $5 in formula:
    http://www.gerber.com/pledge/Coupons.aspx

And the last time Kmart did super doubles, there were peelies on the Gerber graduate meals for 55./1, which made them less than .30 per container.

I have a pantry stocked with several months of mostly organic baby food and have paid less than $15 OOP.

    Hope this helps.
