Can someone point me in the right direction...I have Target, Safeway(no doubles), SaveMart, Raleys, Winco? | My kids pedi said they don't really need 3rd foods. None of my kids ever liked the chunks anyway. If he's ready for a larger amoung why not just give a jar and a half of 2nd foods? Deals are always better on 2nd foods.

Deals are always better on 2nd foods. | I'm not a doctor, but that seems kind of an odd comment for a pedi to make :shrug7: The 3rd foods really aren't as much about portion as about having the chunks and thicker consistency so your baby can learn to chew and swallow properly.
I agree deals are better on the 2nd foods, but atleast for the meats and pastas, the chunky 3rd foods would be a necessity. I haven't noticed any difference in the fruits and veggies though, except a larger portion, so 2nd foods would be better for stocking up in that respect if you could get them cheaper.

He tries to chew the stage 2 before he swallows it. Usually he has beans once a day (I make them and mash them for the consistancy he likes) and mix them with the stage 2 veggies to make a "dinner" but I also give him meat once a day and right now he doesnt like the consistancy of actual meat so I still have to use the jars for that and that is where I would like to give him the stage 3 instead of the stage 2.

My youngest here. Oh she is tiny. But, she never went as frequently at nursing as my oldest. So around 3 months. When I wanted to start her and she wouldn't sleep and was constantly eating, but only every 2 hours. I thought I was a "weak" mommy for starting the oldest so soon. Well, I went to the doctor at the 4 month check up and she was only 8.9 lbs. :frown: and loosing weight. I'm just not...endowed with a milk supply. My ladies are C cup. But, they don't have the "goods". She was so small. The doctor told me to come in, in 2 weeks to check her weight. She went up to 9 lbs. But, I was told to give her cereal with every meal until she reach 14 lbs. (as of a 1 month ago she has made it, at 7 1/2 months old).
Back to orginal OP. This is my first time using baby food. I only do the jarred cereal. I can't stand meat from the jar. Weather it be spaghetti in meat sauce or chicken in chicken broth. So our "stock up" price is (for size 3) .50 or less on Gerber (they are chunkier at size 3).
I was hoping Target would have their Gerber coupon come out before she was weaned off of baby food. But, she only takes about 2 jars a day now. Apparently the Gerber deal was the target coupon that broke the coupon friendlieness of my Target.:shrug7: Some lady (not me) went in and used 100 coupons each time for baby food. I got a whooping 40 size 2 jars and thought I stocked up (remember I never used the food before).
