    Default Best Bottles?

Expecting twins by the end of the year (both boys, we think!), and looking for thoughts as to the best bottles out there.

Currently leaning towards the Dr. Brown's, but also considering the Avent.

Anyone want to weigh in with their opinion?

    Thanks!

I wanted BPA free so I purchased Dr. Browns. Unfortunately I didn't care for them and now use Playtex Drop-Ins - LOVE them...

I would honestly buy a few different kinds (1 of each maybe...) and try them with your children. They may or may not like them.

    Congrats on your new additions!!!

I also have twins - and my DS liked the Dr. Brown's and my DD the Avent - different kids do better with different nipples.

I used the playtex drop-ins with my daughter. I would think that you'd just mix it up in a measuring cup before putting it in. I think you can mix up a large batch of formula ahead of time, can't you?

I'm pretty sure that's what my friend did. She'd mix what she planned to use during the day and keep it in a large glass jar in her fridge. Then she'd just pour out what she needed when she had to fill the drop-ins.

oh, and all of this is contingent on how much stuff you want to wash, too!

The Dr. Browns bottles have a few more parts than the nipple/ring/cap/and bottle that most bottles have. There's some sort of insert, too. (Never used them so someone else will have to confirm.)

With the playtex drop-ins, my milk storage bags fit with them, so I didn't even really have to use the drop-ins much. I would let the caps/rings/bottles sit in hot, soapy water and all I'd really have to wash is the nipples. If you're doing formula you won't need a bottle brush. I only used them in my milk collection bottles.

oh AND, lol... the platex nipples can be used with the avent bottles and vice versa. A friend showed me that trick! Neat!

I used Playtex drop ins. Like another poster said, works with milk storage bags if bf. There is a great pitcher at BRU that has a screen in the spout for $7.99 and it prevents any formula clumps from gettting into the bottle.

What I do is I bought the 8 oz evenflo plastic bottles that were BPA free. If I have to travel, I fill that bottle up with water and put the powder formula in the little divided container. Then, when I need a bottle I just pour formula into evenflo and shake good, then pour into the Playtex. Little extra work but works awesome. Also, our little man sleeps in his crib in our bedroom upstairs so I just bring up the Evenflo bottle of water and the formula and mix his first morning bottle upstairs. No going down to the kitchen.

Oh, WM sells the Parent's Choice brand of the liners to fit into the playtex and they are cheaper and work perfectly.

    Twins! Congrats!

I also like the Playtex Drop-ins. I buy Target brand because they are the exact same thing, but $2 cheaper. I like the fact that all I have to sanitize are the nipples, though I usually pop the rings and bottles into the dishwasher every couple of days, too. If you go the drop-in route, I highly recommend buying the 8 oz bottles (expandable to 10 oz)....DD was out of her 4 oz bottles very quickly and now they just sit on the shelf collecting dust. You can buy the 4 oz drop-ins to put in the 8-oz bottles to save money when they are eating 4oz or less at a time.

As far as clumping....we rarely had clumps when DD was on regular formula. We had to switch her to soy and clumps are now a problem, but only in the slow-flow nipples. Unfortunately, she's not quite ready for a fast-flow, so we just deal with it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go with!
