Thank you:-) I've found that naming my kids have been the easiest part of parenting-lol! Kurt has always left the naming decision up to me (too many cooks spoil the broth-lol), but he has alway had the power of "veto". The only time he used it was for Juliet. Initially I wanted to name her Juliet Mariellis (marr-e-ellis; after Elain Gonzolez's cousin...remember the cuban boat boy?)...but he thought Mariellis was too ethnic. So, went with Marie. Juliet Marie reminds me of a french maid-lol! But I like the idea of Jules for short (Or Matt for short if its a boy).

Marilyn Nichole: I was a young mommy of almost 17 and was a Marilyn Monroe fan. So Marilyn it was. Nichole just seemed to go well with it. Not untill AFTER she was born did people start to pick up that her name Marilyn Kennedy was funny due to the Marilyn Monrow/JFK connection. Also my grandmas name is Norma Jean (Marilyn Monrows real name) Ok so that was pretty odd....

Hannah Elizabeth: Picked purely for the biblical reasonings.

Parker Grant: Parker is my DH's middle name, And was a compromise to NOT naming our son Russell Parker Kennedy the 5th!! Grant is my DH's maternal grandmothers maiden name, she is related to Ulysses S. Grant.

Liam Patrick - Decided to go for a Irish name to go with irish last name here, my mom picked Liam Patrick, and it stuck.

Carly Rose - My mom is Carla, my Grandpa is Carl, so Carly is a variation on the name. Rose because its my favorite flower.

In all Marilyn has the most uncommon name of kids her age. We have never ran into anyone named Marilyn under the age of 50 in real life. Unfortunatly because of the age we live in the nickname the kids give her is Marilyn Manson.

Hannah is the most common. There are lots of Hannahs out there.

Default Re: Inspiration for children's names?

We went with a different method.
We wrote a list of names we each liked and then took turns crossing off names until we were left with just one that we both liked as determined by elimination. DS took DH's middle name which is also DH's fathers name. DD got a middle name that went were her first name...no history too it. While the women in my family share a middle name, it was not something we decided to keep as it did not go well with her first name, and there is not too much I want her to inherit from the women on my side of the family so it was not important to me to carry on the middle name.

Each of their names are traditional and have kept popularity over time. We did not want something that would go out of fashion but were not creative enough to come up with unique names like some of you all have...

Default Re: Inspiration for children's names?

Jonathan Michael Jonathan - ex husband's father name is John. Ex husband's father's brother was named Michael who died in a car accident. He was 8.

Alyssa Montez Montez- named after her great grandmother, ex husband's grandmother ,who died in the same car accident above. Alyssa - the only name we could come up with that went with Montez.

Jakob Devane Devane - ex husband's middle name. All the boy grandchildren (my mom's) have names that begin with J so we kept up the J names. Loved the name Jacob but I wanted a different spelling so we chose Jakob. I just love that spelling.

The car accident listed above: Ex husband's grandfather was driving and drinking. He lost control, jumped out of the car. The car hit an embankment (sp) in a curve. It killed ex-husband's grandmother (Moma Montez), her son Michael, age 8, and her son, Jimmy, age 12. Her 3 other children, 18 yr old daughter, 10 yr old son (ex husbands father) and her 2 yr old daughter. The 2 yr old went threw the front window, 10 yr old son went threw the set and landed under the front dash (was sitting in the back), 18 yr old was able to brace herself and just hit the front seat. I'm not sure how Michael and Jimmy were injured. Moma Montez fell out of the car and was ran over by the car.

In ex husband's family, his sister has the middle name Montez, 1 cousin has the middle name Montez, 2 2nd cousin has the middle name Montez. My Montez is the only one called by the name and she looks just like her great grandmother, Moma Montez.

If we adopt a girl (hopeing this happens in the future) She will be named Mary Patricia Hannon. Mary- DH"s late mother's name. Patricia- a variation of my mother's name (Patsy). Hannon, my grandfather's middle name. She will be called Hannon.

Joshua Kenneth - DH wanted to name him Michael or Gideon. I didn't want either of these. We both liked Joshua so we chose that. Kenneth is DH's grandfathers first name and DH's middle name.

Aili Emily - Aili (pronounced I-lee) is my mothers and my own middle name. My grandfather (my mothers father) is full Finish and Aili is a Finnish name. Emily is after my great grandmother (on my fathers side).

Rhyne Meghanne Casidhe -Rhyne is named after Ryne Sandberg of the Chicago Cubs --best player EVER!!!!!!!, Meghanne Casidhe just fit.

Braylen Andrew -dh got to pick his name, since I named rhyne. I wanted it to be Braeden, but he said no. Braylen is supposedly after some football player. Andrew just fit.

This baby we are still arguing over. I want Owen soooooooooo bad, but dh hates it. We had decided on Kaleb Owen (he was going to let me use it as a middle name) but now I am not really liking kaleb so much (my dd says it kaleb-ah, which drives me batty!) and I am thinking about reverting back to Elijah (Which I had picked out for dd if she had been a boy).....dh said he doesn't mind elijah, but now we've got to find a middle name (he's thinking Riley, I want owen LOL!)

No kids yet but these are the names
Kathrine (spelling might be diff) Elizabeth: Kathrin after both DH's Grandma's Elizabeth is my and my mom's middle name and my Grandma's first name (my mom's side)

William Joseph: WIlliam after my grandfather on my mom's side Joseph RUNS rampid through both of our famlies-- both our grandpa's on one side where Joseph's DH's middle name, my dad's middle name my brother first name, uncles and cousin's as well :)

That's it so we'd better have one of each LOL

I also like Josh and Jacob for boys (but dh says they are to modern) and Julie/Julia (Jules) for a girl (have not run that by DH yet)

So those are the choices for names we set up about SIX years ago if/when we have kids!

Default Re: Inspiration for children's names?

Brennon Michael - my younger sister actually named him. I was a young mother and didn't chose a name - he had to have a name to leave the hospital. Michael is my brother's middle name and I have nephews - Brent and Brandon, so it gets confusing during family gatherings.

Chantelle Irene - we only had boy names picked out as the ultrasound said a boy. DH picked out the first name and I insisted on Irene as that was my grandmother's first name - she died when I was 12 and we were very close.

McKenna Marie - again, DH picked out the first name as he did not want the names I picked - Audrianna, Madison, Sierra, Ashlyn. Marie is my sister's middle name and DHs grandmothers middle name.

If I were to have another boy, I would definately name him Easton. This was my great-great grandfathers name and I just like it - it's very different.
