Don't look for Gerber help right now...

I visit Gerber.com on a regular basis to download their online coupons for my 1 and 2 1/2 year old's food. For the past few days, I haven't been able to access their coupon page. I contacted them to find out due to budgeting restraints, Gerber will not be posting any online coupons, possible till the end of the year.

They also had a promotion with their Graduates line of food where you saved 10 UPC from any Graduates container, sent it in and they sent you coupons. They are no longer doing this promotion either.

The operator did tell me that I should hang on to my UPC's and possibly Gerber may re-introduce this promotion at the beginning of next year.

You can contact them directly 1-800-443-7237 and request to be put on their mailing list and receive coupons directly, but since I just did it, I'm not sure how much help you'll receive.

I'm not a fan of Beechnut brand food for my kids, but since Gerber seems to have stopped helping working families without any notice, I might be forced to change. But with hope, I will continue to check their website and you should too.

I'm sad about all the new Gerber policies as well, but I guess they are also trying to tighten their belts in this tough economy. I like Beechnut, but they sell it at stores that are completely out of my way.

I haven't needed baby food in a while, my little one will be three soon, but I kwym about being brand loyal. With ds1, he was a gerber baby, ONLY ate gerber foods. Ds2 was different, he wouldn't touch them, he liked beechnut.

I imagine, part of it is they are now promoting their organic line, and I'd guess are going to be switching to all organic in the future. I hosted an organic houseparty, where they included some gerber coupons, so I know they're out there...

Just make your own baby food! It's not difficult at all, much cheaper and you don't have to worry about chemicals and crap that is in processed baby food!

I made all of my teenagers food. I did keep a handful of jars in the house for emergencies, but they much preferred the homemade stuff.

I just made their food about once a week and froze it in ice cube trays. Once frozen you can transfer the cubes to Ziploc freezer bags. One cube is about one ounce of food, and is a much better size for new solid-food eaters! So there is much less waste.

I wonder what they'll do if you send in the forms for the Graduates coupons. The ones I have are good until 9/30/08! If I hadn't read this board, I wouldn't have known that they were discontinued.

Maybe they are still sending them out, but telling people they aren't, in order to discourage them from sending them in.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Beechnut. I personally prefer Gerber because, to me, it actually tastes better. I try my children's food before they eat it, so if I don't like it, why would they? At first I figured "awww, he's just a baby, he won't know the difference", but they get in a few first spoonfuls and would turn their heads away or push away the spoon, wasting the jar. The babies do grow into their taste buds, whether we like it or not!

With my first son, yeah, I was all gung-ho about making my own baby food. But I got pregnant again when he was 7 mos and my husband has a son from a previous marriage, who at the time was 3. Now 3 boys, 5 1/2, 2 1/2, and 1...there isn't alot of time for homemade between breastfeeding and regular food! Everyone is different and on different stages of food. Dinner time is practically the only time for a homemade meal in my household. I'm sure this will change shortly as with everything!

I believe if you have the Gerber address to send the Graduates UPC to, they will honor it, but it is no longer posted at their website to print out.

I read this somewhere else last week, and then yesterday I got a bunch of Q's and another certificate to send in the UPC's for more Q's! I am going to call and see what they say!
