We just had a 1yr bday party.. we had 15 kids here and the kids ranged from 9months-12yrs old and I didn't have the energy to buy a million different age appropriate items!! We just did really cute bags that someone made for us and I threw in paper confetti(that we made w/our shredder) and some candy. I know not everyone can eat the candy but the parents can if the kiddos are too young!

Do you have a specific theme for the party? Can you do something affordable along the lines of the theme?

For my son's first birthday this past spring, we had a dog theme b/c we have 2 labs that my son adores. Instead of goodie bags, I found dog bowls in Ikea that were 29 cents each. I got a dog bone cookie cutter and made sugar cookies using them. I put a few cone cookies in each bowl and wrapped it in clear cellophane and tied it with ribbon that had dog bones on it. They looked very cute and were super cheap.

Last year for my boys' birthday parties I did basic school supplies. I did the slide pencil cases (.01 each) with colored penciles (.50) or crayons (.05) and a note book (.10) I also added a fruit roll-ups (free from Shoprite) and added mini play doh that I got on clearance at Target after Christmas. They cost me under a $1 each and the kids of ALL ages LOVED them. This year I did something similar also, I love the fact that my son's birthday is around back to school time!

I get enormous bubble wands and large styrofoam airplanes from the dollar tree. Don't give water guns. I repeat, don't give water guns. Trust me on this one.

Thanks for asking this question, I still need ideas:) My son's 1st birthday party is next weekend and I got the little boxes instead of the bags at Party City on SALE .50 for 8(they are the expencive kind 2), stuffed firefighter dalmation(theme is fun at one and has firetruck, basketball and an airplane) and little champs one(for the basketball) got about 10 @ .50 each:), stickers and game pens. I just did the boxes put some Lifesavers(free cvs) then fruit snacks then some more Lifesaves-I'm still thinking about all the other stuff that WON'T fit in the little box-like the granola bars and the "toys & games"-might just get the little bags because I also got bookmarks and such...:hectic1:...well now I better put my thinking cap on...and hurry cus my party's almost here-good luck, and have LOTS of fun

CHAT Ideas for 1st Birthday Favors....

We are working on a small budget for my sons first birthday. I need to have some favors for the guest. The theme of the party is Handy Manny and Tools.

Any ideas are welcomed.

I was thinking of doing Taco's for meal. I figured Mexican Fiesta would be fun.

For invites I think I am going to Accu Cut out tools and attach a invite. Although Ideas are greatly welcomed here too.... I am looking to do this party as cheap as possible yet NICE.

Personally, I like giving out items that I bought for charity. Something like Kohls Cares for Kids. The stuff animals are for all ages most of the time and at the end of the season they go on sale for 50% off. Just check with your local Kohls as to when they do this. It is a gift that keeps on giving. :)
