We use the Avon stuff that's bug repellant and sunscreen. I don't have it handy, but it's the one that goes on blue and then clears up as it rubs in.
I'm looking for suggestions on an infant safe insect repellant for my 8 month old. I have the Burt's Bee's brand as recommended by the dr. and it doesn't seem to repel enough so thought I'd ask the experts.
Thanks

The reason the Burt's Bees didn't work well is because it doesn't contain DEET. I would ask your ped what he recommends, but our ped recommended that we not put insect repellant containing DEET on our infant. I'm not trying to start a debate, it's completely up to you what you do, but i'm just telling you what our ped. recommends.
My DD is 6 mo. old and I haven't put sunscreen or insect repellant on her skin yet. We just try to keep her out of the sun as much as possible and/or keep her indoors when the bugs start coming out at night.
That's just us though.

I remember my parents always using Avon's skin so soft on my sister and I as children so I'm glad to hear that people still rely on Avon. I think I'll order that online and in the mean time I'll head out and buy a net to put over the stroller. I don't normally take the little man out after dark but we're headed to a friends baseball game and want to do everything we can to prevent him getting bit. Thanks so much for the responses!
This is the one we got: AVON- Products
But they have quite a range. You can just search insect on the site to see.

Ive heard of some people using equal parts of (original/plain) LISTERINE and water I've tried it myself a weekend ago and worked fine. I haven't tried it on my little ones b/c I've been using the wipes bought at WALMART Off FamilyCare it does contain about 5% deet though
Our pediatrician recommended something with permethrin as the active ingredient. You don't spray it on the skin - before you dress them spray their clothes and let it dry. The permethrin binds to the clothes and doesn't absorb into their skin.
We use Anti Bug Balm by Badger for my little girl who is extremely allergic to mosquitos. It has amzing reviews. We have tried everything and IMHO avon does not work. We travel all over Central America and this is the best we have found. The Deet stuff makes her break out and it is not good for any of us really. You can order it online or we found it at Central Market
an infant? You might just try mosquito netting, like this but smaller: Coghlan's Hiker's Mosquito Net
I mean, infants don't move all that much![]()
We use the Badger Anti-bug Balm too, it works well! I was very concerned with putting any chemicals on my daughter and after MUCH research decided to try it..
I always check the cosmetic safety database to try and find products that are less "toxic" to use on my kids.
FYI the Avon with the sunscreen in it is highly toxic, if you do get it get the one with no sunscreen.
