Re: Book discussion! Children's Books Recommendations? Not sure of the age since you mention preschool but then the board books, so here's what we got out of the library. Read both tonight for my 3 & 5 yo boys & they (& I) loved them, especially the 2nd which is really smart & funny for the adult reading it: Harvey Slumfenburger's Christmas Present by John Burningham The Runaway Dinner by Allan Ahlberg & Bruce Ingman
other popular picks around here:
Richard Scarry
the Mercer Mayer "little critter" books
I love Jamberry because it makes me want to eat them The Polar Express
The boys have both loved the Toby books starting with my oldest when he was 2, but I find them annoying & have to pace them just so my brain doesn't explode.
On the "how much I love you" theme brought up by the PPs, I really found How Do I Love You? by P.K. Hallinan really sweet. It pulls from Shakespeare (the title & structure) & T.S. Eliot.
Jan Brett's books are a lot of fun, sweet folktales. We have The Mitten as a boardbook.
Finally, the Bear books by Kharma someone-- Bear Sleeps In(?), Bear Stays Up, etc. Nice reading aloud books.
