Default Pay someone to potty train?

I have not started potty training my 2 year old and I dread the thought of it. I came across this article. What do you guys think of the idea of "Booty Camp"? LOL

I saw it on the Today show or Good Morning America....whatever show it was on. My DD is 3 and just goes in the potty whenever she wants and goes in her pull-ups or training pants whenever she wants. She doesn't care if she walks around in wet and she doesn't care if she doesn't get a sticker or treat if she doesn't go in the potty. If I lived near this woman, I would certainly be all about it! Since I don't, I may try her technique at home and see if it works. I've tried everything else in the book, so why not!!!!!

The thing is many children will potty train naturally when they are ready. For some, it's 2-3 years of age. Others, it's younger than that. My niece was potty trained by 15 months.

With my first child, I pushed her hard to potty train. It was disasterous. By the time her sister was born 8 years later, I knew to just let it happen. Present the idea of going to the big girl/boy potty to them from time to time. When they are ready, they will pick up on it instantly.

I didn't read the article, but I would definitely not pay someone to potty train my lo. Just another way for people to make money, imo. If you seriously don't know how to go about it, I would suggest the library, there are many books to read on the subject. Also older relatives, possibly grandparents, those people who were normally potty training children in the 1-2 age range rather than 2-4 would be a good resource. I once heard somewhere that it's not the kids that are trained early, it's the parents that were taught how to train them early. That being said, i've been potty training my ds for about 2 months and he will be 2 in a few weeks, the huggies video said it takes an average of 8 months so, just get some great resources and be patient, it will take time! Good luck!

I read the article. Sounds to me like a whole bunch of kids are going to have "issues" when they get older. I'm willing to bet this will have disastrous consequences soon enough. I would not recommend this.

Seed lady recommended to me a book by Dr. Azrin Toilet Training in Less Than a Day - it is from the 70's but is based on general behavioral principals that still hold true today.

I used the advice from it along with 2 other books and the Elmo Potty Time Video and my 2.5 year old twins were almost completely potty trained in about a week - they still have accidents occassionally and they wear pull-ups at night (although it has been 2 weeks now and they are mostly accident free).

my dd is 4 months shy of being 4 years old and she is JUST NOW potty trained. I just stopped putting pullups on her and started putting her in panties full time and she's had maybe one accident and she doesn;t even pee at night!!

I have a special needs child he is 4 and a half and has no real interest in going on the potty most times. He is very big for his age I mean think 6 year old and u will get an idea(his expressive language is about 2 maybe 2 and half but his comprehensions is higher we just don't know where because he cant tell us.. )If this women was near me I would SOOOOOOOOO do this because his school is no help what so ever. I wanted to put him in underwear but they said that they did not want to have to have the extra mess. I have basically gotten a potty train him at home then we will fallow through with it type thing. I have never potty trained a special needs child how the heck am I sappose to do it.
