I guess I'm a bad mom, then ;) I would never let my little one sit in poop, of course, but I've got 2 other kids under 6 and I'm not about to change 15 diapers a day every time my 2 yr old pees a little bit - or I'd be using cloth diapers - that's why the disposable diapers are absorbent - they're made to keep their little bums dry. (I also don't wait until they're totally and completely full, btw) He's also only had a diaper rash once in his 2 years of life, so I guess it's not hurting him. I just have better things to do than change diapers constantly. :) (BTW, I'm not offended, I understand people have different parenting styles - hope it didn't come off that way)

Oh, and I also figure price per diapers - I'm just willing to pay more per diaper for a name brand than a lower quality brand. (some store brands are high quality, some are not - it's just what works for you)

It depends a lot on the age of the child. When my daughter was a newborn, I changed her the minute she was wet. Now she's TWO. She needs to learn that it's uncomfortable to be wet and that means she keeps a wet diaper on a little longer than she did when she was born. If I changed her every time she dripped, she would not learn a thing.

JMHO.

I don't think anyone was trying to imply that you are a bad mom. LOL
I don't change for every little squirt, either, but the way the post came across is that the diaper was being left on for a LOT longer than that. As in full enough to leak... that is a LOT of pee, because as you said, they are meant to keep their tushies dry.

Nothing grosser IMO than a diaper that is so full it's sagging to thier knees or dragging the old pants down. And there are plenty of people out there who let it get to that point.

We tried really hard to babyproof our house, but somehow, a couple of them still got in.

I would definitely have to agree with you - sorry I was unclear - (I just tried some ShopNSave diapers that were less than $2 per jumbo pack after cpns and I actually thought they weren't worth it - I had to change him every hour!)

I have discovered that Luv's is the cheapest quality brand and it is cheapest for me to get it at BJ's - it runs 30 buck for a box of 176 I think it is.

My baby is due in September, but I've started stocking up already. Guess that's part of being a couponing deal seeker. I always check the clearance section at Target and look for clearance tags at CVS and Walgreens. I picked up some Pampers dry-fit Size 2's for $5.75/Jumbo pack (48) and some Luv's Size N's for $3.98/Jumbo pack (42). I averaged 11.5 cents/diaper. Unfortunately, I forgot my coupons today - this was an uplanned trip, otherwise I would have gotten down to 10 cents.

I saw the CVS Ultra-Thins for 50% off, but wasn't sure how these are and how often there's a need for Ultra-Thins.

Default Re: Lets talk "cheapest" way to buy diapers for a minute..

Being a mom to one 2 1/2 year old and one 7 month old we go threw alot of diapers and now pull ups. I think with my 2 year old its not the case I let him stay in a wet diaper its just that he is on the go go go so much I dont notice every little wet one with him like I do with my 7 mo old who is attached to my hip and I notice and change him more often. So hence going threw less diapers with my 2 year old. So thats our situation.

As for the diapers, we are a huggies family. Pull ups as well for my 2 year old who is potty training and I am willing to spend the extra money now to get him done and over with diapers/potty pants for good. He has been regressing with the 7 mo old around but in the long run I hope its worth the extra money for the pull ups now.

I only buy them with coupons, even if that means getting really low in my stock to wait till I get more coupons. But I have never run out so thats lucky for me. I have come close (I would run out if I HAD to and get some not on coupon, but havent had to do that yet) I got so low once I used what we had in the diaper bag until the sunday ad came out (next day) heeheh

I'm not sure what you mean by "how often there's a need". They're just regular diapers. You use them any time you would any other diaper.

The cheapest way to diaper is to use cloth. They have great resale value. Plus you are not putting sposies in the landfills. WOO HOO

I stopped buying the smiles at sam's club (boxes) because they just got way too expensive. Target brand lowered their prices on diapers recently and I have been buying those. Even if I were to use the other brands with lots of coupons it still wouldn't be close to as cheap as what target has them for right now. Plus every once in a while target puts out some store coupons for their brand and that saves us even more.

I also noticed alot of diapers there on clearance.. sizes 1-2 on the endcaps at a lot of targets.
