I clothdiapered my daughter for her first year. I loved it, it was so much fun to try different diapers and knit wool covers for the prefolds! I guess I stopped because it became winter and I was so tired of trying to fit jeans and pants over her big diapers!

However I did always have wicking and compression leaks no matter what we used. (Fuzzi bunz mainly, then prefolds with bummis covers, and some fitteds with bummis covers) No big poop blowouts though.

I currently have both of my kids in cloth. I use prefolds with bummis superwhisper wraps covers for my daughter-7 months- primarily because i have less blowouts with her in them. and my son - 2 1/2 years - is in various WAHM AIOs except at night we put him in a CPF with two doublers and a bummis SWW cover. I LOVE CDing. I started when DS was 6 montths. I dont have any trouble with anything at all from wicking or anything.

OO i saw the cloth diaper sprayer and wanted it so bad. But the cost of the diapers prevented me from getting one. Maybe later on.

I switched to cloth when my 16 mo old decided she didn't want to wear disposables anymore. Not even the pull up kind! We have practiced elimination communication (infant pottying) a tiny bit so we just put her in thick Imse Vimse training pants with Bummis Whisper Pants covers during the day (offer potty and change after every wet) and cloth diapers for naps, car drives and night time. For cloth diapers I like Swaddlebees pockets with 2 Swaddlebees contoured microfiber inserts. I think those work best on average to thin babies. My daughter is solid built and average sized with a Budda belly. :) For potties I like the Baby Bjorn potty chair since it has a high back, lower seat for smaller toddlers and a no skid rubber bottom. Even one pee in the potty after a nap helps and poop in the potty or loose training pants is sooo much easier than smeared diapers.

great forum! just now checking it out. (spending way too much time over at cvs!)

i used cloth on 1st dd almost 10 years ago and used them faithfully for the first year. used the thinner tri folds at first, and the thicker gerber ones as she grew, with dappi velcro covers which were/are fantastic. i got to be a pro at folding techniques so pins weren't needed (until waists got a bit bigger). i did cloth for each child (3), but for less and less time with each one. for the third, i found those cloth liners that were already shaped like a diaper with velcro, and those were great.

i also used baby washcloths, j&j wash and a bowl of warm water for wipes instead of disp. wipes too. how crazy was that? with summer babies, i line-dried everything easily and tried to use very little bleach.

with the 4th, i plan to use cloth again, but again for a shorter period of time. i find they save the most $$ when you have to change so many, so often, for the first few months. i simply have less time to do laundry these days. disp's. are SO convenient, and a must when in the car for more than an hour, traveling or on vacation, etc. imho.... and horray for disp. wipes too!

i still have many original dipes from 9 years ago and most covers, so with one more bag of cotton liners and a couple new covers, that should be the extent of my investment for the 4th go-round!

i do feel environmentally responsible using them, and it does save $. good luck to those with their first attempt with them! it's not for everyone, but with all the choices in products, it's even easier these days.

Yes, I am on my second child in cloth- she is 9 months old, I love 'em, with my first we went to disposables at about 18 months because it seems he peed to much for the cloths to keep up with! I never did the AIO's, I use the CPFs and wraps- should you go that route I LOVE Motherease brand covers. Cloth is not the pain everyone makes them out to be, IMO. Now that the nice weather is here I hang 'em out to dry in the sunshine, saves on electricity too! It's noce not to have to worry about buying diapers left and right!

HELP Need advice on cloth diapers

DIL is pregnant with first baby and will be using cloth diapers. She is thinking she will want to use fitted one size fits all diapers with covers. She is leaning away from the All-in-one because we are not sure about being able to dry these in the dryer and in the winter and she will not be able to line dry these.
Anyone have any suggestions of ones that they have liked or even dreaded so she can avoid those. Also where do we purchase these. Thanks for any help

Hi,my DS and DIL use cloth on my granddaughter and my DD is planning to use cloth on my grandson to be (due August). Cloth diapers have come a long way since I used them on my kids. There are so many kinds now it can be hard to choose. I did a lot of research when I was shopping for my granddaughter, this site Green Mountain Diapers: Cloth diapers and diaper covers for baby has super info on all types of cloth diapers. I have ordered from http://www.sewcraftybaby.com/store/Default.asp they have great prices, fast, free shipping and excellent customer service. I highly recomend this store. I have also ordered from Mom's Milk Boutique - Free shipping on cloth diapers, Fuzzi Bunz, BumGenius, Ergo, Moby Wraps and nursing bras! and was pleased with my order there too. There are no local stores that sell cloth diapers in my area, you could google cloth diaper stores in your area to see if there are any local to you. HTH.
