new to family dollar coupon shopping and have a question

well I made an attempt today, but someone had already cleaned the store out of toothbrushes and floss. oh well. happy new year!

I'm finding that more and more since EC started airing.

I have not been lucky with getting any coupons to scan at FD. The cashier has tried at the end of the trans and after each item was scanned. Nothing works!! I too think it is their registers. The $1/1 reach coupons would never scan, and the Cover Girl coupons don't scan either. I would buy 4 cg and use 4 coupons, they would try to scan a coupon and it would say "item not sold" or something like that. Same for the reach. They used to turn down all my coupons saying if it didn't scan they couldn't/wouldn't take them. I contacted the dm and he said to have them push them through manually and if I had any other problems to call him when I'm still in the store and he would take care of it. I'm always very careful to use the coupons only on the items they are intended for, so I just think it's antiquated registers. I live about two blocks from a fd, but I usually only shop there for the free stuff because it is such a pain. Last month the manager (who is the only one who seems to know how to put the coupons through) pushed my purchases across the counter to me and said "you don't get a bag, you only spent .36". Nice huh? Not sure if she was joking or not.

That manager shouldn't be working, we are technically suppose to ask if you want a bag and if you want your chemicals separate from food products. She probrabely either was joking, but who knows. Because the manager I have is the same way can come across like she isn't joking but she is. I have no sarcasm at all, so my jokes never seem funny :(

My FD would not accept coupons that would make some cover girl items awhile back FREE...they said they don't get paid for FREE items...really? Just to tired that day to fight about it.

i have a hard time articulating my words in a way that doesn't seem condisending when I am trying to show them that what I am doing is not wrong, so i just leave with nothing and try again later

Oh! I have plenty of sarcasm to go around! I try not to unleash it on unsuspecting cashiers who do not know me. This particular manager is well known in our small town for her attitude toward customers. If she was joking apparently no one is getting it, so she may want to work on her act! I still shop there because it amuses me that she is so irritated by my use of coupons. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, it just always surprises me how upset people get when you use coupons. I'm always very polite and never use more than 3 or 4 coupons. I also make sure not to hold up the line.
