QUESTION Do you usually have problems using coupons @ Family Dollar?

I went to FD weekend before last and got - 4 Reach toothbrushes ($1 ea), 5 Post-it notes ($1), Electrosol Finish 12 pk ($3) and Luvs baby wipes ($2.75). I used (4) $1 Reach MQs, (5) $1 post-it MQs, a $2.50 Electrosol Finish MQ and a $1 Luvs wipe FDQ. The register beeped on every coupon except the Luvs and Electrosol (which after paying I noticed the Electrosol didn't come off and had to get a refund). The lady was working alone and there was a line behind me - took a good 15 mins for her to manually enter each coupon (they have some weird way they have to enter). When she hit the "total" button the computer started shutting down and it said something along the lines that my Qs didn't match products. What in the world?! They all matched. So after another 15 mins of her re-booting I finally got to pay then notice the $2.50 Q didn't come off..... I'm new to shopping @ FD (not new to couponing) and I wonder if this is a problem I will run into often. It was frustrating for me so I can't imagine what it was like for the cashier and people standing in line behind me.

I absolutely have problems every single time I have used a coupon there.
I always expect nothing to match, all to beep and eventually we shut the line down and wait for the manager. It does not stop me though. I figure its their problem not mine

I have shopped at FD a few times. If you are using coupons, be sure to ask the cashier to scan an item, then the coupon, item then coupon etc. Their system is weird. The coupons must hook up to a product. Therefore, should they scan 4 toothbrushes then try the coupons the register will always beep and they have to back up on the screen to find the next item then scan the coupon and so on. PIA. Sometimes they (of course) know more than I do and do it their way. Whatever, then they have to void the entire transaction and do it my way. Imagine that, no problems.:shrug7::shrug7: Hope I explained this OK cuz I know what I mean but sometimes relaying it gets lost somehow:hectic1::hectic1:

I agree DG is much easier and more coupon friendly than FD, just sometimes the deals are better at FD so I put up with them every now and then.

I've only had one problem...easily resolved with a filler (was getting one package of luvs with $5.00 coupon and there store $1.00 coupon...it wouldn't work until I added a filler.

Mine have manually been putting them in...but now they have different registers and will be able to scan them...but I haven't tried it yet.

I have problems but the cashiers are great at my store. Wookin is right though it makes it much easier if you give them product - coupon, product - coupon. When you do it that way it usually is much easier, faster, and doesn't beep on every coupon. It is really hard on the cashiers when you have 4 or 5 of the same product and give the Q's at the end. they have to search for each product and as easy as that sounds their computer systems are crazy and make no sense at all. So now when I go and put my items on the counter, I place each coupon with the item purchase, things go very quickly like that for me.

In my area FD and DG is just the opposite, DG has a panic attack if I try to use coupons there. Last time I shopped there, I left my whole order there because the Manager told me I could only use ONE coupon on my whole order, and no I could not do more than one transaction. I thought that she meant one like coupon as I tried to explain that my 5 coupons were each different, she said that didn't matter, I could only use ONE. Period. LOL funny how some stores are so crazy.

My area mgr also figured it to be easier to scan an item then the q. It works out fine for me when they do it that way.

I've only shopped there twice, but each time I have been given issues with my coupons. I was told that I could only use one coupon per transaction (because the coupon stated one per purchse...and no matter how long I argued with the cashier about the difference between transaction and purchase, I always lost) So I've always had to ring everything up seperately. And I always have 5+ items that I am using coupons on. So it makes for a really lengthy checkout process...and like a pp mentioned, there is never more than 1 person working at the store I shop, so I always have to step aside and let someone else check out so I don't hold up the line. I feel like they are just making more work for themselves!

I find both DG and FD to be a lost cause for coupons. I have issues at both.

Whew ok so it wasn't just me! Noone was in line when I went to the counter and I felt horrible when people started piling up about 5 mins into it......... Thank you for hand product over then coupon, product then coupon idea. That makes sense. Hopefully that will smooth things out next time I venture to FD.
