Default ZIPLOC OMELET-Has anyone tried this?

A friend of mine had these last weekend and was very impressed. I am going to try this while camping.

This works great! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet!

Have guests write their name on a quart size Ziploc freezer bag with a permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra large) into the bag (not more than 2) and shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green peppers, tomatos, salsa etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.
Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 15 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Hang on!!

We made these once... it was very very bad!

You HAVE to use the strongest freezer bags you have.. regular bags will melt and rip and tear.

Only do one at a time.. trust me. If the bags touch the bottom of the pan or the sides they melt!

Dont overfill the bags, or the outsides of the omelets cook and the inside says runny.

We ended up having to empty the bags half cooked into a pan to scramble the rest of the way.

I was totally excited to make these.. and very bummed it turned out so bad.

Good luck to you guys if you want to try!

We had friends over for breakfast and they were totally impressed. They turned out great and certainly put a "party" atmosphere into breakfast. Served the omelets with warm muffins and a bowl of fresh fruit. How easy is that? And everyone had fun "making their own breakfast."

We did these in Boy Scouts alot. The kids had fun and cleanup was easy.
But just like a pp said, use good brand name bags for these. Anything else will result in a large pot of egg soup.

We do this every year on our annual camping trip. It is so much fun and easy and delicious. But MrsAlias is right, it can end up very badly if not done right. I suggest a dry run at home first.
