My DD came to me the other night with $540.00 she had saved and told me she wanted me to put it in her college fund She has changed her mind about what she wants to be..now its a marine biologist (she is 9). DS still wants to be a cardiologist. I just hope he keeps up his excellent grades and gets a scholarship to help out!

Sorry, I just now saw this post. She had saved her birthday and Christmas money. Plus the money she earned for helping to babysit her little cousin while my SIL worked on her dissertation. She also earned money here and there for various other things.

My kids will have a good college fund! My dad puts 4,000 in each of there college funds every yr. So my hubby and me don't put anything in there accounts! My kids should each have over 70,000 in each account before college. I feel like it will be great for them. My hubby and me will prob pay for some of there food and clothing and stuff. My hubby and me our more focus in saving for are retirement.

You can borrow for college if you have to, you can't borrow for retirement.
