Q: Can I use coupons at DG?
A: Yes! DG accepts manufacturer coupons and occasionally offers store coupons as well. You can use one coupon per item. See email below regarding the use of IP's.

Q: Will DG double my coupons?
A: No, DG does not double coupons.

Q: Does DG give overage?
A: Some members have reported yes, however some have reported no. My stores do not, the coupon is adjusted to the purchase price making the item free. YMMV.

Q: What is the DG Guarantee?
A: The DG Guarantee is issued on most store brand items. If you are not fully satisfied with the product, you can return it for a full refund or exchange. For additional information, see here.

Q: Can I use my debit card at DG?
A: DG accepts PIN-based debit cards as well as Visa and Discover (sorry, Mastercard holders). No minimum purchase is required.

Q: So what can I buy at DG?
A: The basic DG store focuses primarily on consumable basics: paper products, health and beauty items, and cleaning supplies as well as milk and other food items. Many stores have a small refrigerated section with dairy products, lunch meats, and an assortment of frozen foods. Additionally most stores carry a limited selection of electronics, pet food, clothing, automotive supplies, and seasonal merchandise.

Q: What's this Dollar General Market, and how is it different from the basic DG store?
A: The Dollar General Market offers everything that the basic DG store carries, but features an expanded food section and fresh produce and meat. There are currently fewer than 60 DG Market stores in operation, so there's not a lot of feedback on the quality of the merchandise. If you're familiar with your local DG Market, please share your experience and thoughts!

Q: May I combine a DG coupon with another manufacturer coupon?

Thank you for your e-mail.

Dollar General is pleased to accept manufacturer coupons at any of our more than 8,100 stores. If you have five coupons for five products, you may use them in one transaction unless the coupon states otherwise. If the coupon states that it is good for any product, you may use the coupon for any product even if it is not pictured, unless the coupon states otherwise.

You may use a Dollar General coupon along with a Manufacturer’s coupon for the same item, as long as neither coupon states otherwise. Unfortunately, due to fraudulent attempts, we are unable to accept internet coupons, unless they were e-mailed to you directly from Dollar General.

The first email and phone call I made said that they did not allow the combination of a manufacturer coupon and DG store coupon on 1 item, however, the second email I sent and phone call sbp made said they did allow it..but I have yet to be able to combine the 2 at any DG store.

The manager and cashiers both say it isn't allowed, I even printed the second email and showed it to the manager(my niece) of the store I most frequent..and she showed me a contradicting "operating" type manual which clearly stated it wasn't allowed .


I just wish these companies would get all their employees on the same page with their policies..I mean how are we the consumer supposed to stick to the policy when the darn store employees contradict what customer service reps tell/email us?

What do they do if you have a bunch of coupons and your total comes out to something they owe you money back and you have no oop?? just curious I like going there to get cards and gift bags but now that I see we can use coupons i'm so hitting them up..

FYI.... I sent email to Dollar General asking them to put me on their mailing list to receive weekly fliers about sales and this was the reply.

Thank you for your e-mail. At this time, we do not direct mail a weekly sales ad. When we do issue sales ads, you can find them advertised in your local newspaper and on our website.

Do you know their policy on coupons you print off your computer? My husband tried to use one at DG today for a loaf of Nature's Own bread, and they said they didn't take online coupons. Bummer.

As I DG employee, I can tell you that we're not supposed to accept IPCs. But some managers allow it, for whatever reason. The store I work at does not accept them, but another store down the road does. I don't know why. The manager of that store can get in serious trouble with corporate if it's ever caught.

And as far as weekly sale ads, we don't have them...so that's why they can't be sent out. We'll occasionally have a sales ad if we're having a big sale corporate has organized...at those times the sale is on the website and the Sunday paper just like the email said. But we don't have regular ads every week like some of the other stores.

Used 6 of the $2.50 electrasol coupons here today. the cashier made me pay for each box separately. I tried explaining I had 6 purchases and 6 coupons. She would not budge.

I hear yah I havent went to DG in 2 years since opened here because I went in to buy 10 colgate with 10 coupons and then guy working told me the same crap...It was my first and last time til today!
I went for the 2.50 electrasol I purchased 5 boxes at 2.50 and 4 20ct @3.00 using 2.50 coup I paid 4.44 for all..... o and 2 bandaids
So 9 boxes altogether and the two cashiers were impressed I told them why I dont come in and they encouraged me to come back!

The guy working before told me to take my business elsewhere because he aint accepting coupons when it would be free... me being new couponer at time left it alone ! My friend even told me she was never going back at all and she aint lying she dont even care about electrasol all because he was ignorant! I hope he still dont work days because I went in tonight
