Before coupons. DG put redemption directions on the coupons, so it makes it really easy to use these at the stores now.

Do you mean they have to scan the $5.00 before all others or they just go by precoupon total. I would be using multiples of the same coupon and the last time I did that at DG the cashier had to scan one item and then one coupon or else I would have gotten credit for only one of the coupons. Scanning the order that way would definitely make the total less than $25 when it came time to scan the $5.00 coupon.
But then if they scanned it that way they wouldn't know for sure what the precoupon total is unless they get out a calculator. Why do their registers have to be so complicated?
Coupon says
before any coupons are scanned - scan/enter the $5.
I have a store that insists on scanning an item and then a coupon. It's a pain to use a $5 at that store. They are just not register/computer savvy enough to make it work like all the other DG's.
If they can't make it work - most stores will price modify an item to get the manufacturer coupon money off. They don't like doing that, but sometimes it's all that will work on those registers.

There is no reason for the cashier to do this except that she has her own "method" that she likes. I would ask to speak with the manager in this situation. Typically, it wouldn't matter, however, the instructions from DG on their OWN coupon say to scan the store coupon first, then MQ. Dollar general registers are not "programmed" in any sort of way that makes them only be able to take one coupon and then one item yadda yadda.
Thier IS an exception to this rule though! When you are doing a $/x and x>1 (lol bc I like algebra) you do need to scan x items, then a q. So for example, if you coupon is 1.00/4. You need to scan 4 then the q. So in that situation, the 5/25, isn't a good sale to use this on. But a good manager will make it work for you.
I hope this helps![]()

The coupon I was using was the Libby's $1.00/4. The first time I used it only one of them came off so I had to go back in for a refund. Members were posting on here that it was a known problem that multiples of the same coupon did that at DG and that the only way around it was to scan one item or the number of items needed for one coupon and then scan the coupon. So the next time I went to use the Libby's coupon I was going to suggest to the cashier that she scan my transaction that way but she already knew all about it. She scanned four cans and then a coupon and it worked.
So with you saying that it is not necessary does that mean that DG fixed the issue with the registers or the problem was only with using multiples of the Libby's coupons but not others?
I'm sorry, I somehow overlooked this part of your post earlier. I thought that you were saying that there was no need to scan an item then coupon when using multiples but I guess in a way you were confirming it.
I don't go to DG often enough to know how good the manager is or if he or she would find away to push my coupons through. The time I went back in because only one of the Libby's came off they didn't have a problem refunding the amount I was shorted. I'm not sure whether or not it was a manager that helped me though.
I guess I can just try it and if my total is off I'll ask if all of my coupons were credited and if they are not maybe the cashier will get the manager involved if she doesn't know how to fix it herself. If they won't fix it, it should not be too late to cancel the transaction and get my coupons back.
Can someone clarify what the "not valid with any other dg coupon offer" means exactly? does that mean I can't use my other DG $off/x item coupons in conjunction with the $5 off coupon? for example I was going to stack my DG $/off lysol with a manufacturer $/off lysol. does using the $5 off mean I can't use my other DG Q's?
