QUESTION Good deal on Libby's Vegetables ?

Hi all. This is my first time visiting this forum. I don't usually shop at DG because they seem a little expensive to me (especially for a dollar store!) compared to WM (even if it isn't a sale item).

So, I've noticed that the Libby's vegetables (selected varieties) are on sale this week for 2 for $1.

I have 5 $1/4 paper coupons I got out of an insert (last month, I think and not sure which one) and one IP for $ .50/2.

If I buy 20-22 cans (depending on the IP Q) then the veggies are .50 apiece before coupons and I use all the coupons (provided I get away with the IP) then each can would be .25 apiece. If I don't get to use the IP, then the price would be .30 apiece. Do you guys think that's a good deal or should I hang on to them to see if they go on sale somewhere else? I don't remember if Kroger sells that brand or not.

You can't use IP Qs. I went this morning I didn't know that. I just was researching on here to see if that was their policy. It is.

Just price match at Walmart or Target if you have IP Qs.

I was thinking that's a good deal too. I plan on buying 8 cans and using 2 of the $1/4 and I don't see Kroger getting down to much less than .25/can. Great deal especially since I'm going be making lots of green bean casseroles in the next 2 months. Any thoughts from anyone else if this is a super deal?

2.00 for 4 cans vegt. minus $1/4= 1.00 =.25 can
I can't buy generic vegt. for less than .50 can
Great deal for me.

Very good deal, IMO. I just stocked up on a ton of green beans at our local grocer's off-brand sale for .50 each. Wish I would have waited!

Thanks, everyone, for replying! I know they don't usually take IPs but since my store in new, I thought I'd see if they were open to it. If not, I will just pay .30c per can. No biggie.

:)

No IPs at Dollar General. That's a corporate rule.

Thanks for pointing out that we can price match at Walmart or Target and use IP coupons. Had not thought about that.

I was just wondering if the Libbys vegetables you are talking about also included their Organic line. I wanted to know if Dollar General carries these organic vegetables, particularly the black beans. I used to be able to buy them at Walmart but they stopped selling them. They are the best canned black beans I have tried so just curious if they sell them. Reps to anyone who knows. Thanks!

pokerpansy - my store does not carry the organic veggies.

I just got back from Dollar General and picked up 22 cans of veggies. I nearly cleaned them out.
Only one of my $1/4 rang up so the cashier had to get a manager to ring up the other 4 Qs and the manager also rang up my IP for .50/2. So, my store in Orange, TX does take IPs.

22 cans for $5.49. Not too bad. That's .25c apiece. I am happy with that. I'm sure they'll end up on sale cheaper somewhere else during the next few weeks but regardless, that is still cheaper than regular price at .80 a can! Woohoo!

I was just coming to post about this......... I have 7 of the $1/4 MQs and sent DSO with the Qs to work so he can stop on the way home. Does anyone happen to know what all veggies DG carries in the Libbys brand?
