Dollar General ~ Question: Good deal on Libby's Vegetables ?

I found only peas, french style green beans, and corn. Didn't even see tags for anything else.

IF your DG does'nt have the varieties you want...if you have a Super S close...they are .77ea right now and they double up to 1.00.

4x.77=3.08-1.00 that will double=1.08/4 or .27ea

I think the sale is only for the week, or until the 7th. I went last night with two coupons and the computer would only let me do 1. Ended up having to cancel the first order and then do two seperate transactions.

OK....let me start off by sayin that ...YES.....I think this is an awesome veggie deal!
(FREE would be better, but ....that's unlikely in these times)

I've been a couponer for over 20yrs. and have seen the deals come & go....as well as economy strifes ....
And right now.....this is a whopper of a veggie deal!
Save-A-Lot and Aldi's *used* to have the best deals....BUT...they sell *generic* brand and they are up to 59c - 79c (in my NY area) depending upon which veggie you get.

I sooooo prefer fresh or frozen....but, with the cost of them these days...
I will resort to the canned versions for beef stews, creamy chicken & veggie soups, etc...
I will save the fresh & frozen for direct side dishes at main meals.

And...I'm also a lil wacky.....
I went to several Dollar General Stores yesterday while I was out & about working ..
(stopped at every DG I passed by....lol)

I had tons of the $1/4 coupons....

So far....I've gotten 116 cans.

I still have 19 coupons....which....at 4 cans per coupon.....will get me 76 more cans.

I didn't clear the shelves at ANY of the DG's that I went to.....
I left some for others.
I managed to get :
Green Beans, Corn and Peas at the DG's.

I also got some succotash, carrots and mixed veggies at my local Tops Market...cuz they are on sale there also $1/2 (for any Libby's canned veggie) and offered (2) $1.00 doubler coupons...which warranted me 32 cans for $6 instead of 32 cans for $8 at DG.

AND....yes....Walmart price-matches .....BUT

(I juz want to whisper this lil reminder, ok....would hate to not mention it and have some you load up a cart with every possible canned variety and get to the register and have to sort them out, etc...)

- regardless of Walmart's Libby's canned veggie *selection*....
Walmart will stick to the DG sale ad offer.....which lists specific details....

They are Sticklers about "details" of price-matching :

#1. The DG ad states :
Libby's canned vegetables : 2 for $1.00 through Nov. 8th
14.5-15 oz. Whole Kernel CORN, Sweet PEAS, Cut or French Style GREEN BEANS

So, even if they sell the carrots, the succotash, the mixed veggies, etc....
All they will permit you to Price-Match is the items listed in the DG ad :
CORN, PEAS or GREEN BEANS
And *only* in the can sizes listed in the DG ad : 14.5-15 oz. cans


#2. The will have to price-override each and every single can.....so be sure not to get *too many* at any particular time...or you may tick off a cashier or manager. lol

LOLOLOLOLOL, I only thought I was doing well by getting 22 cans. HAHA, 116? Plus another 76 more? I cannot compete with that!

As far as I know, the canned pumpkin would not be included. It seems only the green label veggies are included but, I have been wrong before....
