Cat machine not working?

What do ya'll do if you get to a register and then see that the Catalina machine is not working? The last time I was at Dillons, there was one register open and a long line so they called me over to the self check-out. While he was scanning the items, I saw that there were no lights on the machine. I bought several items, so it should have printed something out, even just a notice. I know "regular" people wouldn't care, but I really look forward to what comes out of that machine!

I don't know about Dillons, but at Walgreens (since a lot of their deals are based on the RR printed out) if someone didn't get them, or didn't get any, they would have them void out the entire transaction, go to another register, and ring it up again.

I've never had that happen at Dillons personally, though one time I was at Hy Vee and it didn't print my cat, but I saw cats printing out on the next register which wasn't being used. I asked about it, the manager came over and said "yes we had to re-program it to go to that machine because this one wasn't working." There were about 10 cats printed out there that hadn't been torn off because the cashier didn't know (and the customers either didn't know or didn't ask). They just gave me mine though, which I guess was fair.

Ive never had this happen at Dillons, but it certainly makes sense. Between Catalinas and e-coupons and the inability of the store to make good on either if they go wrong -- Im surprised that we dont have MORE problems like this.
