I think you did a great job. 59% when testing skills is nothing to sneeze at. So I'm assuming you're new to couponing. That means you don't have a large stash of coupons. You did awesome with what you had. Dig into the forum. Become a trader. Don't wait like I did. There is so much to learn and most people on here are so willing to help.

Just so you know, I've only been couponing since last August/September. There is a learning curve. I have three savings goal levels: 50% makes me content, 60% makes me happy, and 75% is my real goal that makes me do a happy dance at the register.

Yeah you did great, especially just starting out. I have gotten better, but that's only because I realize what the BEST savings are so I wait for those. When I was first starting it was so amazing to me to save 50%, and even at that point I was able to buy a lot more for the same amount of money. Especially with my budget, what I did was, for the first 4-5 months I kept my grocery budget the same, and stockpiled up on some things. Now my grocery/hba/baby budget has gone down $180 a month and I'm still buying a lot more than I was before coupons. Well worth it! So, keep up the good work!

    I just started last July.

Did you find yourself going in fits about the 10 items thing? That still spins my wheels sometimes. How to buy multiples of 10 items and get the best deal...

I shopped at Dillons for the first time yesterday and I saved over 50%. I was thrilled considering I only had a few of my coupons with me. The mega savers were great, even without coupons. I was excited to get free Sunny D, 69 cent Chips Ahoy and more. :)

I did actually. We stood in the chips isle for about 10 minutes counting and going through what I'd put in the cart (I write everything down before it actually makes it to the basket) which in the end helped us out :)

I've messed it up before too, usually when my kids are with me and I'm distracted. Then I get so mad when I get home and realize that if I'd had 1 more item (or 2 more, whatever) I'd have saved another $5! But oh well, I figure overall I still come out ahead just because I put in the effort.

Buying in multiples of 10 was a chore for me but it was my first trip, I was trying to figure out where everything was in the store AND my 5 year old was crying "I wanna go home, mom!" so it was a pain to keep up with it.
