    Dillons: Funky doubling

So this morning I went to Dillons and experienced what I think Rachelle was describing too - funky doubling in overage situations. Mine was, 5 Mentos candy for $0.99 each, using the $0.50/1 Mentos Item coupon. 4 of the coupons doubled fine, to $1 (it showed $0.50 MQ and $0.50 double), the last one had $0.50 MQ and $0.45 double. Weird. But for 5, that means they doubled to exactly the cost of the items.

Just a heads-up. I don't know if Dillons has changed their policy, or just reprogrammed their software (obviously they've changed the software) to try and eliminate overage.

Idk how its been done there, but at Kroger, they have always only doubled up to the cost of the item.so if it is 0.99 then a 0.50 would "double" at 0.49.
Sucks if they changed it for y'all!

That's not new news to me. Any time I have a manu coupon for an item that's under $1, it only doubles up to the price of the item. That's how it's been for my transactions as long as I can remember.

Really? Maybe it's the mega-event that gives the overage then? Like back on Bumble Bee Tuna - the price was $0.99. Would it have said $0.55 MC and $0.44 SC? Mine has always doubled to $1, regardless of the price. But I should say that USUALLY when I'm doubling a coupon and there's overage it's also been a mega-event.

And it's weird to me that 4 of them were $0.50 doubling and then the 5th one $0.45. I won't complain, the $0.05 isn't that big a deal to me. Just weird, it wasn't like that before, at least not here.

Mine did that on the vitimin water. I purchased 10, used 5 55 cent coupons and the last one didn't double all the way. Got all 10 free, but there was no overage. So I thought that was weird.

    Yes on the mega event. If the pre-mega price is $1.49 and after-mega is $.99, and you have a .50/1 q, you'll get -.50 and -.50. If it's a $.99 item pre-mega, you'll get -.50 and -.49. HTH.

I noticed it adjusted a few weeks ago when we first started discussing this on here, but this week, they all doubled regularly and I did get overage on some. Weird, but I don't have the time or energy to figure it out. I am fine with getting the free items and its okay if I don't get the overage.

I just want to let all you gals know how much appreciate having people to discuss issues like this with who actually know what I'm talking about and having a place on here to go when I have questions.

Yeah tpick I enjoy being able to discuss it on here too. I KNOW on Bumble Bee all my $0.55 coupons doubled up to $1 even though the price on the pouches was $0.99. Maybe that's these stores' register programming and they've "fixed" it. I know the other store here in town that doubles coupons has the policy and their registers *try* to double only to the cost of the item. I guess for doubling it's fine. This other store also says they adjust coupon values down to the price of the item, which I think is wrong unless they actually write the cost on there and only get that much back from the manufacturer.

    Anyway...

Yes, it has definitely changed, and now (probably because of the way it now does mega-deal taking $0.50 off each item), the qs are only doubling up to the value of the AFTER mega-deal price. Example: I have $0.25/1 Bumble Bee qs. I buy 4 tuna pouches and use them. The last q has $0.25 MQ and $0.21 SQ(double). Exactly the price AFTER mega-deal. ARGH!

My vitaminwater q didn't double at all, because it was for MORE than the cost after mega-deal.

I know it was not doing this before. They're definitely getting too smart on us.
