    SMILE Dillons: My Dillons Pilgrimage

Just thought I'd share with fellow Dillons shoppers.

I am on vaca in Hutchinson right now at the KS state fair. Wasn't planning on doing any shopping or even checking on this site while I was here, but yesterday we needed some ice and lunchmeat so we drove down main street from our restaurant and what did I see but... Dillons! As we went inside I realized this must be the oldest operating Dillons store (and then remembered hearing a rumor that Dillons was originally started in Hutch). My DH's grandpa told us that they were planning to close that store (it's so small and the aisles are narrow, definitely old-school) but locals were angry about it so they kept it open.

Then today, we drove by a Dillons on our way to the fair. Needed more ice afterwards so I went to that one. It was HUGE! Probably a city block long and laid out really strange because it's a really long narrow store. Definitely more modern, and had a much bigger stock than the other one I had gone to. Got the paper, of course, for coupons...

Now tomorrow is Dillons dollar day at the fair (which I knew beforehand but had no idea what that means). We get in free with our Dillons Plus Card, and rides are only $1! I was so glad we had told our kids they could do rides tomorrow instead of today (we got caught up watching our friends' kids in the pedal pull, eating fatty food, and looking at animals).

    Okay, just thought I'd share!

Hey Melissa! If you see some wheat planted in under-the-bed storage tubs at the State Fair, I planted those ;)
