QUESTION Dillons: Coupon doubling and overage?

I'm not going to do this at Dillons but I thought since their (Ray's Apple Market) doubling policy is similar you could tell me how this works:

Item costs $0.58. I have $0.50/1 coupons. When I bought deoderants for $0.88 and had $0.50/1 the coupon doubled, did not beep, so I got overage. I am hoping this one will do the same thing (though this is a different store so I guess their registers could work differently).

    Think it will work?

Well... I was wrong. I had the $0.30/3 Van Camps coupon, which would have brought them down to $0.38 apiece BUT I know I have seen them priced for 3/$1.00 before so I guess I'm waiting for a better sale!

They were out of Pace Picante sauce so I couldn't even get that.

I LOVE Dillons and overages :) It's been a little while since a good overage coupon was out. THe last I did a ton of was the Reese's PBC, ended up with over 150 coupons so it was Reese's heaven here and the extra $15-$30 always made my trips like .50-1.00 total. Now you have me wishing for another SUPER GOOD coupon to show up in the papers!
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!

You mean your Dillons gives overage. I have been shopping at Gerbes (just like Dillons) for years and the registers have always adjusted down to not give overage. The only way I can get overage is on a Catalina or Mega Event deal.

I used to live in KS, used to shop at Dillons, and would usually get overage if it was a doubled coupon, but if the Q's face value was more than the cost of the item, it was very YMMV. (The most coupon friendly location in Wichita, IMHO, was the Dillons at 21st and Maize.)

I recently moved to Arizona, and we have Fry's here, which is also Kroger-affiliated, and very, very coupon-friendly. They will only double 3 like Q's per transaction, but I do get overage here. This week, they have Quaker oatmeal on sale for $1.77, and there were $2 peelies on selected varieties, so .23 overage on each. I also got overage on Bounty Basic towels because of multiplied coupons (they round up to $1) and a loaded EQ.

Yeah it seems like for doubling they can't control it and the computer doesn't recognize it's overage. In fact here's a funny story: I was buying Gain dishwashing soap for $0.99 ($1 off q) and the cashier was very clueless when it beeped, so called the supervisor over. She looked at it and said "oh that's over the price, so you have to enter it for $0.99." He did, and it doubled to $1. hahahaha!
