FYI Dillons Coupon Policy

I just wanted to pass on some information from Shannon at The Grocery Weekly on an updated and current Dillons Coupon Policy strait from Headquarters.

Vendor/Store Coupons
  • The value of the coupon or coupons cannot exceed the price of the product that they are redeemed for. We do not give cash back on coupons.
  • All coupons should be scanned. Manually keying a coupon is always the last resort.
  • Vendor coupons must be limited to one per item.
  • We double all manufacturers’ coupons everyday up to 50˘, regardless of what is printed on the coupon by the manufacturer.
  • The customer may redeem together, one vendor and one store coupon on a single item.
  • When purchasing items that are Buy One, Get One Free (50% off) customers may redeem one vendor coupon on each of the items.
  • The customer must purchase the correct number of items as specified on the coupon. For example, if a vendor coupon is labeled as 50˘ off of two, the customer must purchase two of that product for the coupon to be redeemed. They would not be eligible to use another vendor coupon on either of those products. Items purchased on BOGO (50% off) do satisfy this requirement.
  • All coupons must be presented to the cashier during the order. We do not refund coupons once the customer has left the store. Only exception being, the customer has forgotten to hand coupons to the cashier, or cashier forgot to deduct coupons from the order. When this occurs, bring the Customer to Customer Service. Customer Service must scan the Plus Card (so they will double), and scan each of the coupons. The coupons will be totaled and cash given to the customer.
  • Loyal Customer Mailing coupons should be handled the same as any regular coupons.
  • In the event that a customer presents an LCM coupon that states “Save $x on an order totaling x dollars”, but does not purchase the minimum amount stated on the coupon, please accept the coupon by doing a manager override.
  • We do not accept photocopied coupons.
HOW CAN YOU TELL A VENDOR FROM A STORE

All vendor coupons will start with a leading 5 (ex. 5 10000 00035 1). Anything else is considered a store coupon.

Free Item Coupons
  • No other coupons, vendor or store, may be used with a free item coupon.
  • The checker must legibly write the value of the item on the face of the coupon.
  • If the value of the item exceeds the maximum limit of the coupon, the checker must still write the max value on the face of the coupon.
  • Free item coupons may be redeemed for items on BOGO (50% off). The value of the coupon will be the full price of the item. This will require a manager override at the register.
Catalina Coupons
  • Catalina checkout coupons are designed specifically for the individual customer, based on the item or items they have purchased.
  • Catalina coupons are intended for future purchases, and should not be used in the order they are generated.
  • At the end of the order, Catalina coupons must be presented to the customer with their receipt.
Internet Coupons
  • These may be accepted as long as the coupon will scan. Because of a security feature built into the coupon, those that do not scan should not be accepted.
  • Internet coupons can be verified by going to Coupon Resource Center. This website verifies, the offer, expiration date, and print date.

Thanks! I am really excited to see you can redeem one store and one vendor coupon per item. I didn't know that I could do that!

I noticed they didn't address the whole expired coupons issue. I haven't had any trouble using them up to 14 days after the expiration dates at the Springfield stores- but I am always afraid that one of these days they will not allow it!

My mom was in the Battlefield Dillons yesterday, and was told that their new policy (which just started the day before) won't allow them to take off a coupon manually. She had a $x/2 coupon which wouldn't scan off because the $amount was greater than the single-item price. The "manager" came over (my mom said it was a short lady with short hair) and said it was just their policy. Surprisingly, Ed and Red were not involved.

That sounds like baloney. It doesn't say NO in the rules, it says last resort. I have a printed copy in my coupon holder just in case of troubles. YesterdaY I spoke to Brandon at Sunshine and showed him the policy and asked if this B1G1 thing would be confusing to the cashier or if its a non issue. He asked me to call him over when I got to checking out. Turns out it did NOT need a mgr override - he just typed in the amount and it went through fine (4.49) He did seem to be surprised a bit at the wording on the policy, so Im thinking its not common knowledge yet. He didn't give me any trouble and was helpful and nice about it. The only bummer was that they only had 2 left and I had 5 Qs. Almost everything I needed yesterday was OOS. Im going to have to be back in town Tuesday night which I HATE doing. Too stressful.

I was at St Louis/ National (Springfield) and the self check lady with short hair who seems to be almost freakish about coupons lately told me that the *new* manager will only allow 8 coupons to be used on items ( ie- can only use 8 coupons on product Y) Not a limit of BUYING 8 items mind you. This is insane given the fact that they always have these 10/10 item deals. I can just see all the couponers now.... " Hmmmm I can only use 8 coupons, but the deal is 10 for 10..... I guess I will pay full price for those last 2 items" NOT ! They just wont shop at that store ! She said he did that so one person doesnt clear the shelves. If managers have the right to make thier own rules, fine, but lets have them at least make sense. A limit of 10 would make sense. She wasnt giving me a hard time because I had less than 8 of everything in my order BUT the funny thing is that I got 10 and 12 of items on the regular check out line the night before.

So, be informed, there may be a new rule at the St Louis store OR she may just have made it up to justify why she felt the need to count my coupons. All I needed her to do was enter in my Cat which wouldnt scan. OH ! I almost forgot. I did verify with her that they still DO accept expireds up to 2 weeks.

See, I had an issue when I was trying to buy four bodywashes last week, and trying to use two BOGO coupons. Even though I KNEW that the cashier should have typed in the shelf price for the Q, she was insistent that she could only type in the 50% off, that I was already getting two free, blah, blah, blah. I'm glad to see it in writing now...I'm going to print a copy of this for my binder (especially if it's posted on the corporate site), and try a BOGO/BOGO again.

On the manual entry thing...I had a Chex Mix bar Q refused because there was a *tiny bit* of the UPC code clipped off by mistake. Luckily, I had another one that was fine. I think this was a YMMV situation though - they will typically do a manual entry as long as the UPC number/amount/expiration date are intact.
