    Hey guys, it's Alicia from Gateway to Saving. Sorry I didn't see this and help you out sooner, but I can hardly access HCW with our internet.

    The reason you're having problems with using coupons on MS items is because they are coded with a store barcode, specific to the clearance amount instead of a manufacturer barcode which links to the product. The register does not recognize that you've purchased the product. The Battlefield store is terrible- the others won't give you any problems.

    Here is my most recent copy of their policy that I keep posted on my site:



    The following are guidelines on accepting coupons, as well as our policy on Catalina coupons taken from the Catalina Coupon handbook. If you have any questions on this information, please let me know.

    Vendor Store Coupons. Vendor coupons must be limited to one per item. The customer may redeem together, one vendor and one store coupon on a single item. .

    If there are bonus buy coupons on the product, the customer may redeem these in addition to one vendor and one store coupon, assuming that the total of the three coupons together do not exceed the price of the product.

    The customer must purchase the correct number of items as specified on the coupon. For example, if a vendor coupon is labeled as $.50 off of two, the customer must purchase two of that product for the coupon to be redeemed. They would not be eligible to use another vendor coupon on either of those products.

    We give a two week grace period on the expiration of vendor coupons. As long as the coupon is redeemed within two weeks of the expiration, we may accept it.

    Free Items Coupons No other coupons, vendor or store, may be used with a free item coupon. The checker must legibly write the value of the item on the face of the coupon. If the value of the item exceeds the maximum limit of the coupon, the checker must still write the max value of the coupon on the face of the coupon.

    Catalina Coupons Checkout coupons are printed specifically for customers based on what they have purchased, so it is important that you hand the coupons to the customer for whom they were printed. .

    In the unlikely event a customer does not want their checkout coupons, or if the customer leaves their coupons behind, tear the coupons in half through the bar code and dispose of them. It is a violation of Company Policy to take them or give them to any other person.

    Remember the customer's Plus Card must be scanned before taking coupons off of the order. If the coupons are scanned prior to the card, they will not be doubled. The Plus Card should be scanned at the beginning of the order whenever possible. Checkers should also be reminded to total the order out before accepting all coupons. This is so that the register may properly verify coupons versus items, after all Plus Card discounts have been taken off.

    I just received this coupon policy on Friday. It looks significantly different from the other policy posted in the other thread. Will see what I can figure out.

    DILLONS:

    Double Coupons:

    Coupons may be doubled at Stores 1-125
    Customers must use their Loyalty card to receive double coupons.
    Coupons will only be doubled up to a dollar: a $0.35 coupon will double to $0.70; but a $0.75 coupon will “double” to $1.00.

    Pharmacy Coupons:

    Competitor pharmacy coupons are accepted.
    LCM or Competitor Coupons may not be used in conjunction with our $4 Generic Program.

    General Coupon Policy:

    Limit one (1) manufacturer coupon per item purchased.
    Limit one (1) store coupon per item purchased.
    One (1) manufacturer and one (1) store coupon can be used on the same item.
    Coupons cannot be used on “free” items.
    Expired coupons are not accepted.
    Amount refunded cannot exceed the cost of the item.
    Customers must purchase the items on the coupon to get credit for the coupon.
    Internet coupons are accepted as long as they will scan at the register.

    About 2 months ago, I had a coupon refused for a MS item. I finished my transaction (without the MS item) and had the manager paged. This was the W. Battlefield store. This is the main store manager (bald guy, in his 50s, I'd guess). He stated that I absolutely could use a coupon on an MS item, but if the coupon were higher than the amount of the item, the coupon would be adjusted down.

    I don't really understand the PP about the coupon policy not accepting expireds. I learned about a year ago that Dillons accepts expireds up to 14 days. I hope it has not changed.

    Apparently the corporate policy changed but SM's have the freedom to still accept expireds. Perhaps its just a no-no with manufacturers or something

    My opinion is that they dont have a specific policy on clearance/coupons because its rediculous to question it in the first place ! Since when does the retail price of an item dictate whether or not coupons are allowed ? I can see the amount of the coupon being called into question.... but not its acceptance
