    DILLONS: Problems with coupon doubling

    I go to Dillons every 2 weeks or so to do my couponing. I was going to the Leavenworth, KS location and never had any problems. I started going to one of the Lawrence, KS locations and haven't had any problems with them taking coupons until last night. None of my coupons doubled. I know all the rules for them doubling coupons. The cashier tried to tell me that, "only certain coupons double." I was about to walk out on an entire cart full of items but it was right before closing time and I am not out to make enemies. I called back this morning and talked to the manager. She said she wasn't sure why they didn't double. I noticed at the bottom of my receipt it said something about them having communication problems. Wondering if maybe that had something to do with it? I may have missed her call back earlier. I need to check my messages. This is the second time I have had problems at this particular store. I have had repeated problems with their system not taking my FSA card. Not sure what that is about either. And yes, it does still have funds on it. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to the Lawrence location. I think I might pick a different store from now on though.

    Which store was it? I use the 23rd st store at least once a week and never have a problem. I never use the 6th street locations tho. Sorry you had a problem!

    I shop at the 23rd street and Mass locations regularly. In fact, I was in both stores several times last week.
    No problems at all.
    Sorry you had the problem, too. The only time my Qs don't double is when I forget to have them scan my Dillon's card.....and sadly, than has happened more than once, especially when I'm distracted with crazy kids! Usually customer service fixes it, no problems.

    It was the Mass location. I did scan my card. The savings showed up but it was a little weird because at the bottom it still said, "If you had used your Dillons Plus Card you could have saved..." I really think it had something to do with their "communications" problem. I guess the manager called me back during the 30 minutes I was gone on Saturday. Go figure. LOL. DH didn't tell me she had called until late at night and I couldn't call her yesterday, so I will call her today and see what she says. She was really nice about it. I haven't had a problem there before other than with my FSA card never working and occasionally they don't have items I am looking for (but being a smaller store that is understandable).

    I agree about the Mass street store (smaller, less items).
    I live close by, so I only go there when I need something quickly (milk, etc.)
    Even though I stated earlier that they normally fix things no problem (both stores), it does not surprise me to hear that your problems were specifically with the Mass street store.

    My personal experience has been that the Mass street store is NOT nearly as coupon friendly as the 23rd street store. Also, often the staff just has no idea about promotions, how things work, etc. (and i am a very under-the-radar-non-confrontational couponer/shopper, so it's not me).
    I have experienced attitudes and problems from cashiers (specific to me having coupons) at the Mass street store on multiple occasions, but never at the 23rd street store. Also the cashiers at the Mass street store don't seem to have the skills to problem solve, always have to call a manager if there is something out of the ordinary. Managers have always been okay. Needless to say, all this makes me shy away from the Mass street store. I would rather have smooth transactions where I go unnoticed, so I will now drive farther to the 23rd street store.

    I rarely go to the 6th/Lawrence Ave. store (interestingly, I have seen really low markdowns there when I have gone, so might be worth a shot if you're in town and have the time), but I never go to 6th/Wakarusa store.

    Sounds like your card did not really scan. I had something similar happen the other day, scanned my card, looked like it scanned, but it did not. So - I just had them void the q, I scanned my card again, then rescan q's. Funny enough - the cashier did not even know that q's won't double without Dillons card.
