Coupon trouble at Dillons on Kearney in Springfield, MO

I went to Dillons today and had my first cashier problem.

Sometimes when I go, I have two different coupons for one product.

Example: $0.50 for lysol and $0.75 for lysol. These are MQ's.

Last week I had two coupons off of batteries. The cashier rung them up with no problem and I walked out of there practically paying nothing for the batteries.

Today I went and checked out with a different cashier, and he told me that I can only use one coupon per item. The MQ says I can use "one coupon per purchase." It does not say I can use "one coupon per item."

I walked out of that store feeling quiet pissed, if you know what I mean, considering how much money I've been saving using this technique before with the same Dillons.

I went home and called the Dillons store and spoke to two manager's. They both had no idea how the coupon policy works, and they had to put me on hold both times. They both came back and told me that I can "only use one coupon per item" even though the coupon says one coupon per purchase.

Can anyone please help me? Am I wrong for using two different MQ's for one product?

They are right. You can only use one Man Q per item (same as per purchase actually). You are purchasing one item, therefore you can only use one coupon on that purchase of the one item. The only exception is some store coupons (and they are listed as such) can be stacked with a man Q.

We'd all be saving a ton of money and getting everything for free if we could use as many coupons as we had for that one item.

You shop at the same store I doI agree completely with flemishe. Only one coupon per item/purchase. I've actually never had any coupon issues at this store. I have never even tried to combine one of their store coupons with a mq, so I don't know if that works. You can however combine coupons loaded onto your shopper's card from cellfire, shortcuts, etc. with a mq.

I am curious how you define "per purchase". Usually, the alternative (and incorrect definition, sometimes used by cashiers) is that "per purchase" means only one coupon for the entire transaction, i.e. you buy 5 five of the same items, but they think you should only get to use one q.

I concur with the others. I've never heard of using more manufactuer Qs than you have items. It's not like WAGS where you can use their store coupon with a Man Q. I'm not even sure why the second coupon wouldn't beep. The coupon doesn't have to say one per item, in my understanding. Usually it will say something like .75 cents on any ONE Duracell Battery four pack or whatever, so that is how you know you should only use on per item. If a second Q, then it should be for another ONE item. Does that make sense?

I shop at the same store. Using 2 Mfr coupons is the wrong way to use coupons and if many people are doing this, then the store is going to wind up creating more stringent coupon rules. I really enjoy that Dillons has no limits on numbers of coupons ( used correctly) and Ive never had a problem with using a coupon. I'd really like it if we all could do our best to help preserve it If you compare to Cutters doubling policy ( and outrageous prices) you can really see how fortunate we are to have such a generous store - Dillons.

First, let me say welcome to HCW. What everyone has said is correct, meaning you can only use one manu. coupon on one item/purchase. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Also, feel free to post in our weekly threads!
