Jell-O punch cake?

Does anyone see a reason why I wouldn't be able to use a yellow cake instead of a white to make a Jell-O punch cake?

My Grandmother always made it with a yellow cake. Bring back memories :)

Nope.. I think they use white so it looks pretty.. LOL. The only difference between white and yellow cakes is the egg yolks.. ;)

Great, I'm more interested in the taste than it looking pretty and I hate wasting egg yokes.

LOL, I get that. But I like yellow cake and would rather buy that if it will work. I plan on using strawberry Jell-O and strawberry Cool-Whip if they still make it, I haven't bought any in a long time.

LOL.. yellow is just fine! Not sure if they have strawberry Cool Whip still cuz I haven't bought any... LOL.. but couldn't you add strawberry jello to the cool whip if they don't?

Hmmm, I don't know. I've never tried that but it's a thought. How about it? Has anyone ever tried that?
